think I'm playing way too slow: http://i.imgur.com/JOyE3vo.png

I do confess I play with run off, and more "stealthy" than what I think the game was designed for
Well, first time I played deus ex I spent 30-40 minutes on first mission in liberty statue.

Now I can probably do it in 15 minutes

I've done worse: When i played Dishonored for the first time, i spent nearly 5 hours only in the first mission.

If I have to spend 5 hours in one mission I probably will drop the game :)

Fortunately it's Dishonored you're talking about so it's kinda understandable that you stick with it

Well, you may know that each mission can be completed very quickly, but the great gameplay and the approach freedom the game gives you, all lead to prolonged gameplay sessions with multiple quick-loads. ("hmmm, let's try this -- F9 -- hmmmm, let's try that -- F9 -- maybe if.... -- F9").

As for whether or not you'd probably drop a game, have you played Supreme Commander? The campaign starts easy with a small map, and when you think you'll get a "Mission Successful" and go to the second map & mission, it just opens a bigger portion of the map with updated Objectives, only to have you believe you'll finish it this time which is not true because it'll open a much bigger portion of the map and so on.. I got tired of it quickly (maybe i messed up a mission and didn't want to start it again? can't remember) and just played Skirmish mode.

I think it's only natural that the first time will take much longer. You don't know the place, you don't know the codes, you don't know where all the enemies are and what they are capable of, you don't know where all your goodies are, you aren't familiar with the AI and therefore don't know that you can just run up to them and smash them in the face with the crowbar...

Definitely there will be plenty of sneaking and exploring around in that case.

That's how I play games these days. Hmm, what if we try this? And that too. That's another interesting idea to try. Well, yeah. I know what you mean.

I rarely play RTS games because somehow it feels less personal with me. I never beat a campaign in any RTS game. But what you describe is bad. I hate games that do that. That's why lately open world is not very interesting to me. I'd rather have a big hub based game like thief or deus ex
Is that Doom?

One of my favourite games!
Shame that GOG doesn't have it :(
Actually I am kind of just replaying it in the moment (on and off)
One reason I can think off that you have 'given' up on it, might be that the scripts in the beginning off each opening up of a further part of the map were so unbalanced and if you did not spend enough time prior you might get handed your ...... for missing mandatory mission objectives?

Nah, doesn't look right. Might be Heretic/Hexen though; I can seem to find an end-of-level screen shot with stats to confirm.
Edit: I stand corrected. Might be Doom 64, after I google'd the level name.

it's Brutal Doom 64 (a Doom II Mod), I'm playing it using zandronum.

Yeah, maybe that was the reason. I think I gave up on a mission that involved some force field or something like that. Can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it felt like I was doing a chore. In any case, skirmish mode provided many hours of great RTS fun and I'd gladly buy it if it were here (after all, I don't have the expansion so that would make a good reason to re-buy it, in gold edition or something like that).

You do know that their are some mods out there? (but most for SC:forged allience me thinks.) >;)
I still play it on and off ;)
When I compare my times with howlongtobeat... Most of the times it's about 3x the time they give for "completionist" and never feel I have nearly "completely" beaten the game...
Slightly OT but someone in here recommended the Doomsday Engine to me for the Doom games sold here and I fell in love with it. Same games just look better with smoother controls, save options, sound, etc.
