squid830: ...one of the options for a Healer is a racist nun).
Lol

squid830: Well, politics is in pretty much everything (across all media), intrinsically, so not sure how achievable that is.
Well I meant more the reduction of games that seem to exist as vehicles to push the message within them moreso than to entertain.

avatar
squid830: Also, there aren't actually enough "political" games - by which I mean strategy games dealing with actual politics, and doing so well. The few that come to mind: Hidden Agenda, Suzerian... Possibly Tropico series...
Not familiar with the others much, but the Tropico games look nice from the screenshots.

avatar
squid830: What definitely doesn't belong in gaming is when the politics are blatant and in your face - unless we can choose which way to go.
Well said, and agreed.
avatar
squid830: Examples: Expeditions: Conquistadors (you can choose to lead a band of racists and slaughter natives and heathens in the New World - one of the options for a Healer is a racist nun).
It seems that you have only read some misleading reviews and not actually played the game. The whole message is progressive anti-racist pro-feminist in that game. One of your main character is *mixed-race* * female* soldier. Your crew fights as much against "heathen" natives as they are fighting against the "catholic" spanish. So no racism there. Moreover, if there are any racist or misogynist characters then the game makes sure you know how bad and evil racism and misogyny is.

I suggest you play actually the game before making judgement or pass your public opinion on them.

Nervensaegen: The freebie is due to May 1st being "Labor Day" in Europe--an incredibly important day across Europe in general and in Poland in particular.
It was an "incredibly important day" when we were under occupation by the communist USSR. Since we regained our freedom in 1989, the promotion of communism and other totalitarian systems is prohibited by our laws (including the Constitution).
Communism is responsible for at least 65 million deaths worldwide. Do not be fooled into thinking that a "workers' revolution" based on hatred, envy and violence can end in anything other than the blood of civilians and the absolute power of revolutionary leaders. If you don't want to look in historical publications, look at the current situation in North Korea or the People's Republic of China. It is a shame that GOG has given us such a harmful gift.

If anyone want to know how this, our current situation, started;

Frankfurt school is the first step to understanding it.
https://www.bitchute.com/video/nXLXxozLhsE/

And Frankfurt school split off from economic class Marxism to focus on cultural race Marxism.

Darvallas: So much for freedom of expression.
Freedom of expression doesn't mean: "Shut the F#$% up!!!" Freedom of expression means that everyone has the right to tell GOG how they feel about that game. Just as the developer had every right to develop that game.

It's kinda funny: Project Veritas is in a lawsuit with The New York Times for this. So far they're winning the lawsuit.
What's funny is, cultural marxist theory implies that the cultural marxists are antisemitic. And actually reading the links on frankfurt school interestingly suggests there's truth to the conspiracy theory. It's really weird, actually. It's like people post links expecting people not to actually read them.

EDIT: Also, the theory most likely actually started with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Bezmenov

It's kinda like how freedom of religion somehow become freedom from religion. They believe that freedom of expression includes freedom from expression.

soop77: Clearly you don't read books.

I am stuck in a loop "click here to go to giveaway" and it takes me back to the main page, when I click on the offer it takes me to the game page and then click again and back to the main page
Mmm, I had no problem with Firefox. Maybe you have some add-on interfering or it was a bad time for the GOG website?

I have a feeling he's either clicking the green button or somehow the main offer is hijacking the green button.

it's a lazy and repetitive game anyway, no big loss IMHO
Want some city riot? Jail Break was way better and it's from the 1985

Wonder if RockStar will ever release State of Emergency for sale again? That game was pretty fun.
Jet Set Radio is kind of in the same vein as well, except you're just taging your gang's territory with neat art designs instead of burning down black owned businesses in protest of systemic racism.

I grabbed it for posterity. Someday, someone might want to know what it's like to be in a "peaceful protest" and how they think. I figure there's some degree of explanation going on for why we want to riot in this game or something.

EDIT: I mean, just think. Wouldn't it be cool if we could know what it was like to be a communist in Cuba honestly believing that putting a murderous nutjob in charge would somehow make things better? Wouldn't it be cool to know what it'd be like to be so racist against Jews you'd ride chariots into thick mud between two giant walls of water that are being held back supernaturally? Wouldn't it be cool to know what it was like to be a Nazi who actually thought Jews were the problem behind poverty, not trying to take over the whole damn world? Wouldn't it be cool to know what it was like to be a Roman who thought they could stamp out Christianity by killing people who believed they would come back from the dead? All these wacky situations in history where a large number of people thought some really bad ideas, and now we have before us a game made by the same people who believe that "peaceful protests" where they ruin the lives of common people and support the elites would somehow result in changing the system so the elites are no longer in charge. This is a historic precedence. The closest we have to that is 1979 Revolution, game, and even that kinda turned out well for them by comparison, and even that was made in posterity, not before the whole thing goes south.

pmcollectorboy: Those reviews are more than a little snarky.

I'm willing to bet you "what is this commie crap" people were perfectly fine when the oh so "back the blue" righties were swarming, mobbing, and stomping on cops in their own failed little riot simply because they couldn't stand losing an election.
Surely "not my president" rallies in 2016-17 were better and Summer of Peace 2020 was great.

Walking into empty government building is surely a terrorism and a "tHreAt To DemOcRacY" unlike burning hundreds of people businesses and houses.
