Elmofongo: what about apehater, how did he ended up this way?
The same that happened to me, to TinyE, OneFiercePuppy, madth3, Zeogold, Stg83, amrit9037... should i continue?

And i'm not sure why this is being focused on the rep, while i still want to make posts with links as any other normal user this isn't the problem, the problem is gog's apathy to whatever happens here but you can be sure that they're quick to act if it's related to their image or store (ex. region lock).

Cyraxpt: Ciris? I think you were still active when they came up with the stupid measure of "chat block".
nnnno ?

Ummmmmm.....He did it!

It wasn't me!

I was dead at the time!
Back on topic to the original post, I had some nice help from them too, not on that scale. When I hit the cap buying a few cheap games to hit the limit for the freebie a couple days back the system glitched. I clicked in my account to get it and it tried to have me buy it, backed off that and it was gone. Main page the pop box never had the code either. I wrote them and I think it was like an hour later I got an email with the game I was supposed to get (not even the one I saw) and an email about that a well. Given the hectic nature of sales like these, that was surprisingly fast and friendly.

Elmofongo: I lost 2 points a half in hour ago.

And I never said anything bad today. And my Ben Hur thread was low rated.

Also on topic: Glad to see the OP is having a great experiance on GOG.

......................................................

Unlike Cyraxpt views, I have had an amazingly positive experience with GOG.com. Everything they promised to do they did. Everything. They answered all my emailed questions promptly, efficiently and above all with great respect and politeness to me, for which I;m eternally gratefull. I stand by what I said.

Cyraxpt, ifyou have nothing nice to say, then perhaps this is not the post topic for you. This post is for POSITIVE feedback for the GOG.com Staffers, to help and assist THEM , like they have done for people like me.Please refrain from posting any further posts on this thread, Thanks.
I wonder if the GOG staff has bets on thread with titles like these. The odds that there's going to be a litany of complaints vs. a nice thank you note like the first post here must be about 80/20.
Frankly, I'm not always sure which people are going out of their way to do this. I had 999 a week ago and some jerk all of a sudden decided to start downrepping me every day to the tune of -6 a day. With the one I get for posting every day, it's a net of -5. There's another user I chatted with whose also in the 900+ club. Makes me wonder of there is an old regular who is trying to keep or downrep anyone approaching or over 1,000.

Don't forget me! I have even been seeing posts I made (and even one topic) that were completely appropriate and non-controversial be "low rated". Just now I noticed a post where somebody requested a game with certain characteristics, I recommended such a game to that poster, and my recommendation is now "low rated".

Weird thought. I can't imagine who in the world has enough time on his hands to say either:
A) Know what? All those nice, helpful posters need to be knocked down a peg.
or
B) The points are mine, all mine! Mwah ha ha!

and keeping it up for months at a time. I mean, dude. We're on a site where people buy games. If you need entertainment that badly, what say you buy one of those games and play it instead of embarking on a mildly evil point-stealing scheme that isn't really going to benefit you at all?

No? Why don't you send them an email telling them how much you appreciate them? It's more effective than writting it here, the nice people that help you probably don't even visit the forum.

So don't tell me what to do, if you or anyone else don't agree with what i'm writting, too bad, it's a forum, downvote me or insult me, i don't care, i'm free to voice my opinion.

The O.P. is complimenting Gog and all of a sudden you derail it by crying about rep.Amazing!!
My experiences with GOG staff are generally positive, with small hiccups here and there. Off the top of my head:

1. A long time ago, a couple of times I faced the problem that my credit card was charged even though my purchase attempt had failed, ie. I was charged but didn't receive the game. These were cleared promptly when I contacted support. I would have wished something like that wouldn't have happened at all (because I presume unless I had noticed itself, it wouldn't have ever been fixed and I would have paid for a game I didn't get), but at least support responded like I expected.

2. Haegemonia Gold Edition didn't work for me in Windows 8, so I asked GOG support if they are aware of any possible workarounds. They just replied that unfortunately the game is not supported in Windows 8 (true, Windows 8 is not listed in the gamecard) so I am not eligible for a refund, but I wasn't really asking for a refund, just if they know of any workaround to maybe get it to work in Windows 8. I took that as a "no".

On the subforum people report getting it to work by using DXWind utility, so apparently there are workarounds.

3. I recently bought Divinity: Original Sin, and the download page mentions you can obtain the Classic version of the game too by contacting support. So I did, but the code they first sent me was a discount code for Darksiders 2. :) I asked again, and got the correct code. A honest mistake, human error.

4. I accidentally bought X Rebirth, even though what I really wanted to buy was X Rebirth Home of Light Complete Edition. Unfortunately I had already downloaded the game so I wasn't really eligible for a refund anymore based on buyer's remorse.

I first thought I'll buy the upgrade to the Complete Edition, but it didn't feel right that that would end up costing me around 6€ more than if I had just bought the Complete Edition right away. So I asked GOG support if I could still get it refunded e.g. as store credit so that I can buy the Complete Edition, and they agreed.

I haven't yet bought the Complete Edition though because I missed that promo sale just by minutes before I got the refund. :( Waiting when it will be promoed again... I've already used that store credit on a bunch of other games though.

So... not really negative experiences, just some hiccups.

Generally, my experience with GOG support has been pretty good.

If I bought a version of a game and then wanted to purchase a version that came out later (with extras), they refunded the difference.

If I had a code which for some odd reason was considered redeemed but never redeemed, they issued a new one.

If I had a game which wanted to trade back in for credit towards another, they were helpful in making that happen.

History shows that if you count to ten, calm down and then ask nicely when sending a support e-mail, your chances of getting a satisfactory response increase greatly.

On that note, before asking for a refund on something, ask this: "is there an upcoming game I want to buy?" If the answer is yes, ask for "credit" instead of an outright refund. Your chances of getting that to use towards something else in the future are much better and that money is already in the bank.

If you're going to have a case of "buyer's remorse", don't buy in the first place. Do your research, read all the reviews, read others' opinions, watch the trailers and even search on YouTube or Twitch for others' playing the game. I usually find that watching the first 15 minutes of someone else playing the game for the first time gives a good sense of how it plays.

If you ever have to send an e-mail to support, show a bit of humility. These people have a 'thankless' job --and chances are, if they're being contacted, the customer is not sending them a thank you note. (However, you can surprise them at times by doing just that.)
