They used to always work.

Now Dreamfall has no sound

And TLJ just makes my screen become low res and says something about a deficiency.

I pulled the following off the Dreamfall Debug "ALSA lib conf.c:3357:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so".... could that be the issue with it?

Probably because Play On Linux is awful and often pulls hideously outdated versions of Wine. As in so old that even Linux Mint would have delisted them.

Speaking of, what's your distro?

No idea about the PlayOnLinux issue, but for TLJ there is support in ResidualVM, which is kind of similar to what SCUMMVM does for a lot of adventure games. So you should be able to play TLJ without any Windows emulation that way.
