Like what the title says. Do you prefer Titan Quest or Grim Dawn? Personally, as someone who got both of them at roughly the same time, and as an old Diablero who loves ARPGs, I prefer Grim Dawn for the upgrades and all that jazz it brings over Titan Quest; but what are the opinions overall? I understand Titan Quest has a very loyal fanbase that never moved on to Grim Dawn, why is that? Is the Ancient Greek/Ancient World that much of a deal breaker? Or are you afraid of the "spiritual successor" moniker all that much? No money to spend on Grim Dawn? Just name the reasons why you prefer one over the other, basically.
I own both and prefer Titan Quest. For me, Grim Dawn has some control issues for me with targeting so unless you play ranged, destroying everything in sight (all breakables) is difficult. Movement is a little quirky for Grim Dawn too. I played a few hours of Grim Dawn, and it never really got me interested. I just stopped playing and forgot about it. Also, I like the classes better in TQ.

Fair point. Personally, as a "click and hold" kind of ARPG player, I prefer Grim Dawn, as it allows me to keep the mouse button pressed and just highlight a different enemy to attack, instead of having to release the mouse button and having to press it again on the enemy I want to attack.
Both games have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Titan Quest is longer than Grim Dawn and has more variety in everything, but it lacks proper combat feedback (e.g. floating numbers).

Grim Dawn has less variety, but it has much more polished and complex game mechanics (devotion, crafting, factions, etc.).
I like Grim Dawn better. But they're both fantastic.

Wholeheartedly agree.
I'm enjoying Titan Quest more than I enjoyed Grim Dawn, but the latter definitely has more bells and whistles.

I'd say Grim Dawn is also faster paced in its combat, but there's also a lot of time just retreading terrain ("dailies" in areas you've cleared hunting for one specific mob to kill, a few oddly placed quests in general).

use the shift key in TQ for this
I haven't played Grim Dawn.
So I guess it's Titan Quest for me too.
BTW Grim Dawn is made by same people who made Titan Quest.
Grim Dawn looks a *lot* better at high resolutions; it streamlined several things that Titan Quest required you to micromanage; it has a much richer option set for character progression with multiple tiers of legendary items and the devotion secondary attribute set; it has less dead space so it's quicker to get around.

Titan Quest is less grindy; it doesn't have the utterdark grimness of Grim Dawn which can get boring after a while; it's simpler so you don't have to really know the mechanics to any degree to be able to have fun at it; it never seemed to have any abrupt difficulty spikes unlike Grim Dawn.

I like GD better, but TQ is really an excellent game.
Both have their place, I suppose. Grim Dawn has some quality of life features that I much prefer, but the relentless darkness of the world can get oppressive.
owning and having played both - definitely Grim Dawn. Titan Quest still being amazing despite its age though
Is there a reason why Path of Exile is excluded from this dicussion?

My guess:
DRM
I would say Titan Quest, because I prefer the mythical setting.
