It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Fellow gamers, I'm getting desperate for something fun I can play with other people. I need some advice. I don't have a lot of spending money, and my PC is five years old. That pretty much narrows me down to the free to play browser category. A lot of f2p MMOs that my comp can run I've either played out, or gave up when I've reached the point I can no longer progress without spending money.

I like RPGs and strategies, so I'm looking for any of those with a reasonable micro-transaction system, that doesn't excessively punish or stagger the poor players. I miss the community and camaraderie I used to know when I had a better rig, and could afford to keep up with the newer multiplayer games. Anything along the lines of Drakensang Online, City of Steam, Heroes of Might & Magic Online or Runescape would be a start. I also have Minecraft, if any GOGers are looking to recruit for their server or clan, thanks.
Tired of playing with yourself, eh? Yeah, I know the feeling...

On a more serious note- I assume you've tried Guil Wars 2? It went free to play recently. There's also Path of Exile, or Torchlight 2, though I played those alone. I'm not really one for multiplayer, That's what I've got tabletop RPGs and board/card games for.

Maybe post your computer specs to help people with suggestions? I'm useless in this thread as multiplayer gaming does my head in. Ironic given that the games I play the most are MMORPGs but chatting and helping others differs greatly from grouping constantly :)

GothikOrk: Snip
You don't need spending money to get games that cost money. You just need to be creative. Lots of games have item drops or loots that other people are willing to spend real money/value for. MMO gold, steam items, etc. You can also keep an eye out for contests like "Win $50 RP (riot points for League of Legends) codes" from legitimate sources, and suddenly you have something to exchange for a new game you want. :)

So for some games, Guild Wars 2 recently when f2p. If you'd like to try MOBAs (massive online battle arenas) there's Dota 2, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm...but mostly Dota 2. :D They're all pretty low on the system requirements so if you can't run them then you're extra potato-ey.

And if you have friends, you can try games like Unturned. May require Hamachi to connect to each other but it's like Minecraft with zombies but less building, more surviving. Good luck!

Heh I used to be an avid tabletop rpg/strategy game player :) I was asking about system specs with GW2 in mind!
Post your specs.

Go and play Dota 2. It has endless mutations and it's completely free to play.
I'm not sure if the infamously toxic and very competative communities of MOBA games are a place to seek "camraderie". I'm speaking from second hand information though, so I can be wrong.

I don't make friends in MMORPGs. For having so many people in them they tend to be lonely experiences. But you can always find a stranger that's happy to MOBA with you and share strategies.
Actually, as I was takling about board games/tabletop RPGs, I justremembered a browser game called Card Hunter. It's a tabletop RPG/board game mixed with a card battle game, styled to emulate the feel of classic D&D editions. A bit of a weird mix, it's rather fun to play (get's repetative after a while, but still). It has both a single player campaign and multiplayer. I have not tried the latter myself, but I think it might be worth your time to take a look.
Mount and Blade Warband is very fun to play online.

Agreed.
The games where my friends made other friends where usually those cute korean rpgs.
There's always tiddlywinks.

So you are saying, you don't want to be friends with people who would think you are a retard and ruined the game for them because you were AFK for one minute? You are missing out. :P

You should check out free Ultima Online shards.
There is a game called Sauerbraten, it is a online fps, quake-like. Very fun, and for Linux, Windows, and mac. It is completely free (and open source :D), with a decent(ish) community.
