Themken: Remember to hoover your computers, at least all openings but better to do the inside too. Pull the power cable, remove the battery and open up but then you must take care not to damage anything with static electicity or push/scrape delicate components. It will be quieter, run faster if the dust had forced it to slow down due to overheating and use less energy.

drmike: This is how I discovered what a SFX power supply was. One of my local clients gave me a call about their security system making lots of weird noises. Opened up their out of warranty 1.5U case and found it completely caked with dust. Took a can of compressed air just for the case and another for the power supply. What was weird is that it;s a pretty clean environment with 2 fans blowing air through the case and away from the power supply.

For the webhosting, we blow out the cases once a year. Look for burn marks, bugs, escaped convicts, etc. while doing so. (The datacenter is across the street from one of the county jails.)
I start with the hoover and finish it off with the pressurised air.

Back in college this was actually one of the topics we discussed during system admin classes. Some folks went with having to blow out of the cases, some folks blow across the cases, some were ok with using a vacuum and some were dead set against it.

Well, I listend to those words of doom warning about hoovering and blowing and used pincers to pick the dust out for a couple of years but it is too much work to my taste.

HereForTheBeer: I try to give my wife the Tip of the Day, but she only wants the Tip of the Month.
I went to the same place when reading the title.

As far as OP tip goes, save the lemon and say you're French. :)
Well, if we're going with gaming tips, how about this:

If you play a lot of older Win95/98 games on disc, always keep the following tools to hand, and try them in this order:

1. Windows Compatibility Wizard
2. The 32-bit stubs for 16-bit InstallShield installers.
3. dgVoodoo, for games that use DirectDraw or older versions and have display issues (including drawing window borders in fullscreen mode)
4. DOSBox (many older Win95 games have alternate DOS modes - some of them, like Tempest 2000, even better than the Windows 95 version).
5. DXWnd, similar to dgVoodoo, but much more powerful (and requires a lot more tweaking and experimentation). To be honest, I've never got a game working with this that didn't work with dgVoodoo, but I used to use it before I found dgVoodoo.

HereForTheBeer: Gaming related: archive your favorite game mod installers along with your game backups. For games with complex mod instructions, include those as well in a text file or somesuch.
Yeah! It can be life related and game related tips! :)

_ChaosFox_: That tends to happen in marriages over time. Before you know it, your wife will only want the Tip of the Year.
It may also be a factor of age. As I've gotten older it's gonna from tri- weekly to try weekly and soon it will be try weakly.

Many land sharks need funds. Sick the loan shark on them!

Nah, I am not so sure about that.

Edit: Better example ;)
