Painted_Doll: Any updates about the Kohan series ?

nightcraw1er.488: Ah, looks like your too late. Kohan 2 and 3 were on Strategy First, drm free download, but they appear to have gone now. I never could find the first one, so I brought the big box and will image the discs at some point.
I bought all three on a disc from Timegate Studios before they shut down. The only DRM was serial keys I think.
The problem is that they don't work well on newer computers if you don't copy some Wine files (I think.) to the game directory. The fix is over on the steam discussion group.
I want them DRM free on GOG with that fix already applied. :)

my google fu uncovered this http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/kohan/kohan.htm
and this http://awakening.chimaerica.com/

but no drm free or updated games
what there is on steam is what there unless you want to scour evilbay

Smannesman: There was also a not-very-good game called 'Time Gate'.
If you mean Time Gate: Knight's Chase, I'm pretty interested in it. I guess I have a penchant for not-very-good games ;).

It's an Infogrames game in the vein of the Alone In The Dark series with a templar theme.

Yeah Steam seems to be the only way to buy them. They'd be great to play via Galaxy. Wonderful multiplayer/skirmish games.

I'm looking for if the rights to them have changed and if so who has them. I'm not very good at looking for such legal mumbo jumbo so it takes time. :/

Would be cool if the rights were nice and cheap. The Kohan series is pretty great.

the rights might have gone to one of the debitors http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/2/4293890/section-8-timegate-studios-aliens-colonial-marines-bankruptcy

most likley southpeak interactive
southpeak seemed to really have it in for timegate https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/05/10/game-over-timegate-shut-down-most-staff-laid-off/
so i wouldnt be surprised if they looted whatever they could get off timegate's corpse

The latest news I know is what's in this thread. That is a former Timegate Studios boss had the rights to the games. If he still have them is the question.
Anyway time to go to work. I'll search some more later.

Edit: No wait. He have the rights to Kohan so he can make more games.
