I'm just trying to beat them. I'm really surprised how much I actually like this game so far :D

WoW didn't exist in Europe at that time and patch 1.12 would have been 2006 so if people wanted to humour the idea of playing as it was back then they would be on the 2006 version.
This also affects the other games if they are essentially playing later versions with major changes due to updates,effectively changing the real date to later years.
Be careful with some of the settings or you might get the bug which stops the game progressing.

I've started to play F.E.A.R. and I have to say that it's pretty good and really quite scary at times. As expected I'm pretty bad at it and die a lot, but fortunately there are a lot of checkpoints and you can also save manually whenever you want. So far the normal difficulty is ok for me.

IMO it's completed. The game let's you play a tournament (like a New Game in other games). And there is no other result or any other progress between tournaments. It cannot be completed more :) so I guess it's fine to consider it finished.

I replayed Advent Rising. It was nice to smash enemies with my demigod powers while listening to a really good soundtrack. The story is fine, with numerous cutscenes. And while it's kind of closed there is a big "to be continued" scene at the end. Aiming is a bit weird and wonky. There isn't a lot of enemy variety, but the game isn't particularly long - it took me 8.5 hours to finish. It crashed a couple of times before opening a cutscene, but the progress was always saved.

Then marked as completed it is! Congrats :)

Sure, I had fun. The game has some shortcomings but, given how rarely I finish games, they probably aren't that bad. ;)

OK, I know it's gaming forum etc., but for me 2005 is also the year Pope John Paul II died – for obvious reasons it was a particularly important event in Poland. It was also a beginning of Pope Benedict XVI pontificate. I will always remember him for his wisdom (he is a heavyweight theologian, but it was incredible how accessible, clear and written in simple language were his encyclicals) and for the beauty of the Catholic liturgy, which he tried to restore.
