bluethief: Added to the OP. Welcome aboard :)
Cheers! :)

(edit/addition) the Thief games are in the simulation genre sale....wot?!?

Yon Journey Continues

General tips: check every non swampy(watery) bit of ground for things to pick up in the special areas of this region....like the witch's tower and etc. There are a number of nice things to find that can help.
(*spoiler* like another rock for your collection on the first floor of the witch's tower *end spoiler*)

11. ("boss" spoiler) The local magery comes out to greet me, and also invite me in for tea...how lovely.
(note: the shield shown is a spell potion I used to protect myself during the fight)

12. I see the face of my enemy once again(saw them the first time in the small sub region which is Castle Daventry, via magic mirror), and hear some more of his plans. I also learn that the swamp witch could've easily been a captain planet villain, what with her penchant for polluting and all.

13. (item location spoiler) Make sure to pick this item up if you're helping the unicorn back in the Daventry region.
(GR note: you need to teleport back via the teleporter shown in an earlier pic, but with what you get I think it's worth it)

14. Connor checks for mimics on top of the witch's tower......nope, no mimics here.

15. But there is this enthusiastic fellow(one of the main foe's minions), who seems ready to belt out an operetta or three...what with how he's posing.
(GR note: make sure to grab the item he 'hands' off to you before leaving the area....it is important later)

Added, thanks for pointing it out.

The only explanation I have it's because they're considered immersive sim games.

Yeah, but then any game with an immersive world could be considered a sim game. To me, when I hear the words sim games I think things like exploration sims(SOMA/Close to the Sun/etc), career/hobby sims(the Sim City series/tycoon games/etc), or combat sims(C&C and the like). Of course, that said, I kinda got why GOG likely threw them into that sale.... I was mainly linking the sale in case anyone wanted to check it out. :)

====

Verily, onto more adventures!

16. I return some lost property to an unfortunate creature, and get rewarded....both with an item and a nice little cutscene.

17. (slight spoiler) A pic of said cutscene, to remember it by

18. After getting ahold of some kitchen implements elsewhere...Connor attempts what is either fine cuisine or dark sorcery, to a nice result.

19. (slight spoiler) I meet the leader of this realm....but not for long. Truth be told, he seems a bit eager to oust me from his realm than anything else. Oh well, i'm sure he means well enough.

20. Connor takes a ride to the next realm/region via whirlpool travel.....whoaaaaaa!

Hello bluethief & ciemnogrodzianin!

Thank you for continuing the time travel threads in the meantime!

May everything go well for you ciemnogrodzianin! I got very occupied the past months, too.

Nonetheless, I would like to join again in the time travel. While playing the next game(s), I still keep posting in parallel to finish my report for the other years--in particular for "Fade to Black" (1996) and "Links LS: 1998 Edition" (1997, which I have not written about, yet).

Two games so far missing on the opening post's list for 1998 are "Heart of Darkness" and "War Hammer: Dark Omen".
Both of their developer's predecessor games are present in GOG.com's catalogue, but those two still are not available...

And depending on how to deal with original release date versus port to PC, you might want to include "Metal Gear Solid" which saw its original release on Playstation One (PS1) in 1998, while its port arrived on home computers in 1999.
I have very fond memories of excessively playing "Metal Gear Solid".
It is one of the few games which I bought without any knowledge before hand! I only ever saw a tiny seemingly monochrome screenshot in the upcoming section of a local video game magazine ("NeXt LeVel"). At this time, I did not know neither Hideo Kojima nor any of his earlier video games.
Soon, I memorized all patterns of the enemies in the game and was able to finish the whole game in less than 30 minutes! My brother was struggling in the same amount of time to get through the game's first room (trying to reach the underground elevator without causing any alarms).
I continued to optimize my routes and item or ammunition usage, even counted all absolutely necessary (unavoidable) kills in the game, seeking non-leathal solutions whereever possible.

Anyway, please, count me in with "Heart of Darkness" (and maybe I give "Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus" another try)!

Have fun everyone!

Kind regards,
foxgog

Added the 3 games, thank you.

Since Metal Gear Solid originally came out in 1998, I think it makes sense to be on the list. AFAIK, there's not rule to say that we only consider PC games.

And signed you up for Heart of Darkness and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. Have fun :)

Thank you! I am extremely grateful for your work! I liked the idea and all the people involved in those travels and I'm really happy we've eliminated the main obstacle (me, that is) and now we can travel again! :D

1998's list looks awesome – a lot of games I'd like to play. Some of them for the second time, some to finally complete them and some I heard long time ago, but never actually played. I'll pick something later.

Thanks for the kind words! Everything is perfectly fine, it's just a lot of work recently and a lot of after work duties. I need to prioritize more carefully and unfortunately it sometimes means less GOG forum :(

Regarding Heart of Darkness – almost forgot! I guess we'd never see this title here. I remember demo played as a kid – and I loved it. I've completed the demo many times and really wished to play the full game, but it never happened. I'm not sure what does my conscience say, but perhaps I should look for some abandonware sites in this case.

Hello ciemnogrodzianin!

Great to hear that everything is fine and that it is only a matter of priorities!

On PC I also only ever had the demo of "Heart of Darkness" and played it countless times. Later, I got a second hand copy of the Playstation One version from one of the local video game rentals.
Luckily, this Playstation version runs fine on various emulators such as psxfin or epsxe. Maybe you could find an original in the used marked for a reasonable prize tag.

Kind regards,

Obstacle? o.0

Yeah, maybe you didn't pay attention sometimes to the threads, but without you starting them we might not have had them. :)

Yeah, I feel ya on that.....I might need to cut down on forum time/net time/gaming time a bit due to IRL and such as well. Ah well, even so I will still try to have as much time/fun as possible with such things, no matter what.

You could do what I did: when I used to (totally not) sail the seas, I made a promise to try my best to buy a legit (digital) copy when such games got released somewhere at a decent price(I mean other than ebay/etc resellers).

My pleasure :).

Glad to know that everything's right and I hope you can come back, after all you're the captain of these travels, I'm just the second in command now!!

Landed.
Transferring some music from 1998.
Can't believe all these songs are from a single year :D

PS. We should probably add FIFA World Cup 1998 to the list :)

PS2. Wow, it looks that NBA Live 98 had halftime show for each and every team! :O (beware – terrible quality under these links: Charlotte Hornets, Vancouver Grizzlies, Houston Rockets etc.)
