These are from Screamer.

(I know, I'm randomly jumping from game to game, but I can't focus on anything. And apparently I have several of them from 1995.)

Third Pic: Big Rigs, eat yer heart out ;D

bluethief: Are you playing the game with a source port or is it vanilla?
avatar
GamezRanker: Source port, but the graphics/sounds are unchanged.
(well minus the crosshair, etc etc...also I minimized the hud as it looks nicer)

On the screenshots...a bit of trivia: the second one is actually a combination of two screenshots I put together to get both lines of Korax's speech onto the picture
I'm thinking of playing those games in the next few months. I'll do them in order, since it'll be the first time playing them.

Do you suggest any source port in specific?

Doomsday...as long as your PC isn't a super potato it should run well enough....also it allows things like:

Use of the old style graphics/sounds or new/modded ones(depending on one's preference)

All games can be launched from the same launcher, either by launching the games or choosing/loading a specific save.
(It lists Heretic/Hexen/Doom/some misc games....Hexen 2 isn't listed, but I assume it can maybe run it as well)

Easily customizable controls(the controlling in GOG's vanilla version of Hexen was a bit wonky for me, so this helped)

Screenshot ability(though oddly it saves them, at least in windows, to a folder in the appdata folder)

Sidenote/addition: One can also (I am guessing, didn't try it) copy the each game's data files to one folder/set of subfolders and just use those with doomsday....or another source port.

Thank you. I'll check it out :).

Cool.....btw, a head's up: if one takes multiple screenshots in a row, it seems to leave text at the top of the screen(as shown in some of the pics I posted)

Welcome to what kind of PC gaming is this anyway.....where the reasons games could crash at any moment seem to be made up by the OS on the fly & sometimes the saves don't matter.

I can't help occasional game crashes. I can't help crashes in races either. I've advanced to pro league, and I simply can't avoid bumping into other cars... I seem to have reached my limit.

I hear ya(I more often than not suck at racing games)

(btw, in case it wasn't obvious, I was referencing the opening to "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" with that last post)

That soothing blue color....likely to lull the player into a false sense of security. o.0

I know where they got an idea for the name Screamer - the game starts to be infuriating at some point and nearly makes you scream. I've boosted my apparently insufficient skill with an unhealthy dose of swearing, but it only got me through a couple of tracks more. I think I'm gonna slow down and maybe switch to a different title.
as promised.
the first one: it was a nice temple massacre!
the second one: the map. NO, don't ask me to explore that little underwater corridor in the center. just. NO.

Anyhoo: ya, a change of gaming scenery sounds like it's in order....best of luck to ya on your next pick, btw :)

honestly, it's because I've used up all my O2. (look at the blue gauge. do you see it? neither do I. but it's there.)
also. there a some secrets visible on my map. one makes the level shorter a lot and easier. so I do NOT recommend exploiting it. not our way.

I was making a reference to the game hydrophobia(where the protag is afraid of the water). ;)

I usually do the long way and then the secret shortcut, or vice versa...so I can explore all secrets/paths.
