The remastered has a way to switch to the original graphics/sounds while playing, I believe.

Future Shock is such a nice game(albeit sometimes confusing with all the areas to move through, etc etc).....when I played it I never knew that it wasn't the first game in it's series until years later. Still have to finish the other games in the series....i'm hoping to get to them some day soon enough, though.

Lots of other classic bits too (e.g. the one with that reporter Greg Burdette criticizing GDI...and then it cuts to show he's with NOD). The videos just were fantastic for the time.
Almost tempted to play it again, but tbh the gameplay is so archaic I don't think I'd get far. And imo C&C1 was the high point of the series, so in retrospect it's a bit tarnished by knowing how the sequels declined in quality and never properly resolved the story either.

See that you're getting a bit creative with a few release dates.
Admittedly, Windows release date of Simcity 2000 was 1995, but original (DOS) release was 1993.
Master of Orion was also originally released in 1993, for 1995 I just see the Mac port.
And for Chrono Trigger you went with the original 1995 (SNES) release though the PC port only came way recently, in 2018.

Well I think this is a good enough excuse to finally play Chrono Trigger.

Well there is a remaster(properly done, it seems) of the first games. I myself am thinking of getting it some day, so I can relive em for a bit(without having to fiddle about getting the originals running properly, that is).

Short gameplay video of some 1995 games. How good is this one? I've realised that for some unknown reason I was ignoring the game (and its sequel), even when it had a decent discount. Looking at 4.5/5 stars – it's worth trying. I was walking past a press point and encountered something that might be of interest to you – check the image attached ;)

And – looking at MechWarrior 2 gameplay – it's interesting how different the strategies were for dealing with hardware limitations. This game looks terrible, but everything was probably invested in mechanics/physics and open world. Bioforge mentioned by Cadaver was a bit different, totally focused on motion-capture and realistic animation. On the other hand we have Phantasmagoria ( played last year) – in those days it was impressive to see actual movie on PC. I remember looking at press advertisements of D, Black Dalia or Phantasmagoria, games released on 3-5 CDs, often 18+ – out of reach for us as kids ;)

Got MechWarrior 2 running this morning, wanted to try both the DOS and later windows version but could only get a later bundle version (main game and DLC) to run properly so I'm gong forward with that. After loading it up the first time and getting into a game, man it feels dated, default controls all keyboard, draw distance about 10 meters and the graphics and are just early windows 95 3D no other explanation needed. However people still sing praises for this thing so I've joined the Wolf Clan (because their logo and menu screen is cooler) and will see if I can finish a campaign this weekend.

I used this option a lot when playing a new Monkey Islands. It was great feature – with a single key you can switch the versions without even pausing a game – does it work the same in FT?

In general I prefer PC release, sometimes info on GOG is misleading, but I don't always check Wikipedia. For S2K I've added adnotation, removed MoO. Chrono Trigger makes sense for 1995, as the game comes from there, even if you're able to play on PC since 2018. Thanks!

Tbh, I have only played its sequel, Crusader: No Regret (long time ago, from some pirate CD collection back in the 90s...), and I had this first part in my backlog since I bought both titles here on GOG. Both games have the same gameplay, though. It's a fun shooter, but not a frantic one. Indeed, it's better to have a good timing and find the best opportunities for getting out of cover and shooting . There are security measures to avoid, a varied arsenal, lots of things to blow up in the scenarios, and you can even control enemy bots from certain consoles, making the gameplay really interesting. Its weakest points are clunky controls (although it supports mouse) and animations not very fluid. But graphics and music have aged really well. Definitely recommended.

I check MobyGames first, then Wikipedia and maybe the listed source for confirmation if I'm suspicious.
That video you linked has a clear error too, Grand Prix 2 was a '96 release.
