Time machine worked fine and I safely arrived in 1995. Started playing Anvil of Dawn and so far I really like it. Graphics still look fine, the music is nice and even the voice acting is pretty good for that time.

For a Dungeon Crawler it's certainly more casual than most games from that genre. There aren't a lot of stats, there's no XP (instead you progress in fighting and spell casting by doing it regularly) or a complicated skill tree. And even the puzzles are not really hard.

So far I've completed Gryphon Keep and the Dark Lantern and I'm making good progress with the Undersea Maze.
A combination of a nasty bug (taking any elevator from where I am right now will freeze the game) and relying too carelessly on quicksave has just forced me to restart the last level from the beginning... The good old times :)

That's why I have a rule of thumb for games with manual saves....3 or so saves on rotation, saved every so often.

Btw....I left ya a tip(in pic form) in post 143 re: level 7, if ya want it. :)
(it saves one a bit of cash on buying weapons/items)

As for me/to the thread: on level 10 or so...progressing nicely

Looks like the "temple builders" really liked the look of that one starting classic doom level.

hmmm. I'd say it seems that way because of similar graphics level. will upload its unveiled map to show what I mean a little later, OK?

Clarification: I meant that the temple entryway reminds me a bit of the entryway in Doom2 E1M1.

That said, k...will be waiting for ya to post what ya mean later whenever. :)

I should, too, but after years of experiencing the same issue countless times, I still don't learn the lesson XD
I do some manual save at the start of a level, and practically rely on quicksave for the rest of it.

ah. my bad. I beg your pardon for being dumb as a bread.

What ya should do is train yourself to not rely on quicksave so much, by going a bit more often to the menu....yeah, it takes a bit more time, but the benefits it pays out make it time well spent, imo.

(sidenote: I love games that have several rotating quicksaves instead of just one.....makes avoiding the situation in your clip there much much easier :D)

No worries.....also I should beg your pardon for being as unclear as the hudson river. ;D

I'm playing SimCity 2000. Nothing much to report there except that people love me despite a teeny-tiny mishap with a nuclear power plant.

Shadow of the Horned Rat got an update today and suddenly it works just fine under Wine, so I may play it for a bit too.

Huh, quicksaves. Never used them. At all. Probably has to do with my need for order and control, and contingency plans. I mean, assuming it does, the option to make a manual save exists, letting me "feel" that I'm saving by going in that menu, choose the slot, choose whether to overwrite a previous one or not, and if so which one, possibly use the moment to check that the previous one seems to be there and/or something about other previous ones, and I'd dismiss it and rely on something automated and with no failsafe? Never. Wouldn't even think of the possibility.

2nd pic: I guess the radiation made Godzilla, who in turn became defender of the city. ;)

I use both.....manual saves every so often, and quicksaves as a more recent snapshot of my progress(also autosaves too, if a game allows for them).....cuz it always pays to have backups(and backups of backups).

Update on my own progress

Made it to level 12....which seems a bit short, I must say.....also pic related: I have a bad feeling about this.

Update to the update: found another area....crisis averted....well until the next level or so

@ciemnogrodzianin you might have missed it, but I already completed Star Wars: Dark Forces, as stated in a previous post :)

Also, I decided to play Comix Zone as my second game for this month.
