Some games together with Galaxy do record the time played, but not all (IIRC)
Without it, no chance. So you would need to start the game always via Galaxy (which is still in beta)

At least a few games I've played have their own timer built-in, so you might want to dig around in the options menu or character screen to look for one.

It seems to be bugged, though, so I'd use something else to record your time playing.
Doing a quick search I found this freeware program: http://www.gameplay-time-tracker.info/en/default.aspx
Or you could just use your cellphone, if you're not the lazy type.

I'm playing Baldur gates right now and it's really a long game. I reach almost chapter 6 with all the sidequest done and I was just curious to know how long i was playing since the time I began but it's still really a great game
I opened this thread expecting to find a game which it was time to play.
I am disappointed.

Actually, what I always do, keep my day 0 save file. And out of this I can kind of calculate the number of hours. Same for sessions, I try to keep the first save, which was the last save of the previous session.
And Yes Baldurs gate is great ;) Started it twice, got sidetracked.....

I was expecting a generic discussion on how on earth people find time to play any game(s) because they have to change shitty diapers, go to work, sleep etc. all the time.

I am also disappointed.

Yeah, this is what I was expecting...

Anyway, most RPGs seem to record your play time with the save files I find, not sure if BG does but that's probably your best bet if you haven't been tracking your time already.

I was going to mention that because I've been using it for a while and it has all the happily wasted time in one place. GOG games, Steam Games, elsewhere games.
Plus, a pie chart.
