Yeah, it's always possible to get console stuff cheaper but what matters most to succeed in the long term is the price in the "big distribution" (supermarkets, etc) as it's where it's generally most sold (parents buying a console along with their weekly groceries).

Don't forget that Bol is initially for Dutch-Flemish customers (even if they've implemented some kind of bad auto-translation). Amazon France is the way to go for Belgian French-speakers (and their parcels arrive in 1-2 days without being "premium" contrary to ordinary parcels from France).

BTW, the accessories prices listed on Bol are in the same (costly) range.

I honestly can't see why someone would get this over one of the other consoles.

My thoughs after the presentation:

In my opinion, the most important things are Mario, Zelda and regional lockout.

Super Mario Odyssey sounds promising - it looks like it will be like older 3D Mario games, without time limit is every stage. However, this still needs to be confirmed.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild - guaranteed success.

Regional lockout - for Switch games, the console will be region free - that's good. However, this raises a question - what about the eShop? Will Mother/EarthBound fans finally be able to get Mother 3 (in Japanese) by creating a Japanese NNID on American/European console?

If all three things will be true, then intendo will succeed. It looks like I need to put my pessimistic scenarios away, at least for now.

The biggest obstacle (among others) will be the price. The Xbox One (is it available in Poland now?) and the PS4 are €399, while the NS will apparently be between €349.99 (France) and €329.99 (Italy). As nice as the NS hardware is, I'm rather dubious that the Switch's features and games will be enough to lure potential buyers, especially when they could just spend a little bit more and get a PS4 or XBone.

I liked how it looked like "Mario GTA" at the start of the video. :P (Honestly, the market seems like it could use a kid-friendly version of GTA like Simpson's Hit & Run, but maybe there are some out there already that I'm just not thinking of.)

The PS4 and XBone aren't portable. If you care about handheld gaming the 3DS has pretty much been the only option for years, and they are not going to make another DS with the Switch still on the market, so Switch will be the only option going forward, those people, me included, will get the Switch.

Unless of course there are no dedicated handheld games, and it's just an alternate place for console games, the same thing that tanked the PSP, and the PSVita, and why no one ever cared about the Nvidia Razer. In that case handheld gaming will just die.

From TB's discussion, I've also heard that Nintendo is also aiming for 60 fps across the board for their first party titles. If they can pull it off, that'll be pretty impressive. Not even the PS4 Pro can apparently do that for games like Last of Us Remastered at 1080p.

It's not like Nintendo are the only ones, Microsoft has always put the D-pad below the analogue stick. It's interesting you say you don't like to use the analogue stick, as (in my experience) most console games of the last 15+ years tend to use the D-pad for secondary functions rather than doubling the left analogue stick, meaning you don't have the option of using the D-pad. Having it at the top of the pad wouldn't necessarily change that.
I have to say, I do prefer the analogue sticks at the top - I find lower sticks hard to use accurately but I have no problem using a D-pad regardless of upper or lower position. In fact, I'm a bit disappointed to see that they've moved the right stick back down again (both sticks were at the top on the Wii U Pro controller, IMO the best controller since the GC).

You could argue that you are late gen x rather than early gen y/millennial, I won't dispute you on that, but you're completely wrong in defining the millennial generation as starting in 2000. I was born in '88 and am definitely too late to be gen x and thus am a Millennial. "Generation Z" are sometimes called post-Millennials and fall into the age range you seem to think the term Millennial covers.
