I was wondering what everyone thinks of the newly revealed Nintendo Switch?

Personally I think the console itself looks decent and it seems like it was given a lot of thought, but I hate the fact that Nintendo insists on putting the D-Pad on the bottom of every controller! I'm not even sure if the D-Pad they use on the system qualifies as an actual D-Pad. I really don't like using the analogue stick when I play video games, and I know a lot of people who feel exactly the same way. I really hope Nintendo will release one controller with the D-Pad on top, and one with the D-Pad on the bottom.

The best controllers on the market have the D-Pad on top ... just like the controllers by Sony and Steelseries.

I'm also not a fan of the fact that there won't be a traditional clam-shell design for the portable handheld (so far). I don't like the idea of carrying around a giant tablet device to play my games on the go. The last time I checked, 'handheld' means you can fit in your hand. I am seriously hoping that Nintendo will release a clam-shell style handheld that will play the Switch games in the future.

That being said, I think the idea of a dual-use device is brilliant! What does everyone else think?

It is a really neat design, but I still need to live the 3rd party support last more than the launch title line-up. But at least 3rd parties love the devkits.

Well, to be fair, those are only used when it's acting as a portable, and in cases like that, you don't want the controller to be too big. When at home and plugged, they showed the user using a standard sized wireless controller.

The video shows people using the tiny controllers in multiple shots, which seems to indicate that they ditched the D-Pad in order to make it playable for more than one player on the go. They traded multi-player functionality in exchanged for the beloved D-Pad.

Interested for sure... in my view this is how to do handheld and console gaming. Join them together for a seamless experience. I was hoping one of the main console makers would do this. Haven't owed a console in a while but looking forward to see how well this turns out.

For me, this new system, it's highly irrelevant. I never considered free emulators on pc piracy, or theft. Besides, emulation reaches "usable" levels, many years after a newer system's release.

Besides, i would never spend a dime on N ever again, ever since they ceased and desisted Pokemon uranium fan-made project. This, and the fact that after N64, they are full of remakes, recycles, trollious new titles and a noticeable drop in quality (game quality), features, talent, inspiration, replay-ability values of individual titles, etc.

Many butthurt Nintendogs will rush to downvote me in most probability, but that's the truth, suckaz!
