It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

What do you think about it?
It is what it is.

Or is it?!? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Or vice versa.

Thanks. That clears it up very well.
For hate’s sake I spit my last breath at it.
It's a bugfest but the features I really need / want the most, well, those work... most of the time.

It looks cool, it's easy to organize my games, but it needs a lot more work put into it. Don't add new features, just bugfix this thing!
It's pretty good for downloading offline installers. Other than that, nah.

That depends which version you are talking about.

Galaxy 1.2.67 is totally amazing wonderful software. I love it.

Galaxy 2.0, and/or any later version, on the other hand, is a bloated, aggravating, ad-filled abomination with a terrible UI. I hate it.

As always (tm)

The Good:
(Can be) Good to have when you have a problem downloading really huge games through the browser, and it provides basic integrity checks.

The Bad:
Bloated, slow and clunky. Cloud saves is still risky, and not exactly stable. Someone should take a lesson in how to create clean and lean programs. Terrible integration with the everlasting, equally outdated and chaotic forum. Galaxy is so far being Steam it's painful and I much prefer that one when it comes to access to a games forum.

The Ugly:
It's proprietary and no Linux version. I still don't understand why they don't just partly outsource the whole thing and put it on github or something and let the community help them so they can focus more on other things. That would help with a lot of things around here.
I have Galaxy installed on one of my PCs and I only occasionally use it, most of the time not.

I haven't really noticed much of a difference using it, compared to how Steam or Epic Games launcher or the EA client or UPlay works for me. They all do what they are supposed to do I guess, download games, install games, let me buy moar games (I haven't done that on Galaxy but I presume you can do it through there as well), run the games, automatic updates, cloud saves... So far I don't recall facing any major issues or annoyances on Galaxy (or those other clients for that matter), but maybe my use is so lightweight that I just don't face them, or my expectations are so low.

Most of the time I don't use Galaxy, simply because I don't have to. The only real use cases for me to using it (instead of offline installers):

1. Online multiplayer games. I am not playing such on Galaxy at the moment (in fact the only online multiplayer game I have played like... ever... is Team Fortress 2 on Steam, and lately I've dabbled a bit with Counterstrike 2 and Overwatch 2. Oh yeah and I did try out Fortnite on Epic Games too but it wasn't really my mug of vodka either).

2. Brand-new games and especially in-dev games that are constantly getting new updates that I'd have to update manually with offline installers, in many cases reinstalling the whole game. Then it would just make more sense to run them on Galaxy and let it auto-update them. However, I rarely play so new games where this is an issue, so...

I guess a third use case would be if I played some game constantly on several different PCs, and wanted to keep the save games in-sync between those PCs with cloud saves. So far I haven't had this need, I do play on several PCs but I simply tend to play different (single-player) games on them.

I like having a reliable to download all files for my games, but other than that I haven't used it much.
its a thing
I'm being told it exists.
When GOG Galaxy released, I was excited by the idea of integrating launchers and consolidating libraries. I also liked the idea of generally hassle-free downloads. Now, after years of using it...

... I'm running out of patience.

Downloads are SLOW... and fail OFTEN.

Retrying failed downloads takes FOREVER to respond (30 minutes in some cases... if at all!).

Corrupted files? You bet!

Buttons and clickable menus are slow to respond (sometimes 15 secs to a minute) and you are often left wondering if the button or menu engaged.

Galaxy fails to connect to other services on a regular basis.

I'm not a Steam fan, but...

... I have almost NONE of these problems with Steam's client.

It's fast, responsive, file management is easy, and downloads almost NEVER fail.

So...

... although I like GOG...

... I'm sick of Galaxy.

If GOG doesn't fix it (it STILL feels like a beta!), I'm back to 100% offline installers.

(do I sound like someone who has been battling GOG Galaxy this last week? YUP... still won't allow me to play or download Bannerlord... and still fails EVERY UPDATE of Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous! ;(

I'd be happier if it ceased to exist. :P
No more third class treatment as an offline installer user, but that is just wishful thinking.
It needs to be debugged, optimised and leaned down.

Preferably fork a lite version which just has download and update functions without the unnecessary process load and "features".
