It is, but the description fits it quite nicely.
What about Conqueror A.D. 1086?
That fits a bit and there are already Sierra games on GOG.

Edit: And of course The Guild 2 would also fit.

Ghorpm: So you didn't think about the Guild 2... but it also fits nicely and it's not here yet :) So once again: my guess is The Guild 2 :D
I was thinking more of the series and I didn't want to spend too much (AKA any) time on looking into all the games and which were and weren't on GOG.
I'm lazy, bored and slightly depressed ;)

Of the guesses so far, I'd like this one the most!

But medieval anything...that's fine with me!

Unless it takes place after the middle ages, as the hint is almost as if someones reflecting on what happened years ago, and not on what's happening in the here and now.
