Fever_Discordia: Meh, both Square and EA have had their first releases in ages recently though...
The difference between Theme Park and SimCity 4 was 5 months, while the difference between Pandemonium 2 and Hitman: Contracts was 9 months. Meanwhile, we haven't seen a Ubisoft game for 11 months and an Activision game for 20 months. It's not quite the same, I'm afraid.

It was recently pointed out to me that Activision are in the middle of divorcing themselves from Vivendi so maybe they've been a bit tied up there, maybe they're not even sure how rights will be split, actually...

Doesn't Vivendi have some games of note themselves?

Not anymore. When Vivendi purchased Activision, they merged it with Vivendi Games to form Activision Blizzard. Anything that wasn't Blizzard stuff ended up in Activision's hands. So any IPs that Vivendi Games had (which is primarily games from Sierra Entertainment and Fox Interactive) now belong to Activision.

Fever_Discordia: I checked the full poem for clues and came up blank, here it is, just to fuel more wild speculation though:

Are there any games that would fit the general hint theme that were released on October 12?

yyahoo: Meh, I laid out my reasoning. When's the last time GOG did anything big without at least announcing it beforehand, if not announcing that they were going to announce it?

zeffyr: Few months ago :-)
I wouldn't consider that a big deal along the lines of a new publisher. In fact, GOG really don't promote their giveaways until they happen, so it really can't compare to a new publisher...

Oh well, we'll find out soon enough. I hope you get your wish. I really do. I just don't believe at all myself...

JudasIscariot: "Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492..." is this week's hint :)

JMich: 7 Cities of Gold!
My first thought (and hope) as well.

...except for the Fox Interactive rights that seemed to have fallen down the back of the fridge in the process!

In one version of the poem it explicitly says that Columbus landed on the Bahamas.
So how about a game set on the Bahamas (that is NOT Black Flag)? My guess: "Nancy Drew: The Ransom of the Seven Ships".
There is also another part of the Nancy Drew series on GOG already.

I bet that would make an unbelievably high number of people happy. ;-P

Oh well... You can't please them all! :-D
I think it would be good to have all the Nancy Drew games here on GOG. Six are on steam (maybe that's all of them?), and they're quite affordable. The same goes for the Sherlock Holmes games. and oddly enough there's six of those as well. They might not be the best of the best with some better than others in the series, but I think it's good to have games like this here, especially since we already have one from each series.

Yep, I wouldn't mind (just like I don't mind when a game I'm not interested in gets released), but I can already see all the "meh" and "bleh" posts in the release thread. ;-)
