Darilon: I would guess Braid or Lost in Time

Grargar: Braid isn't a classic.
Ah, my bad. First time reading this thread so I was not fully sure what it was about.

Thanks for the heads up.

I would be okay with Braid coming because it does have 700+ wishlist votes, but certainly compared to "Z"'s 2500 I would be sad. (Would be great if BOTH showed up)

The hint isn't necessarily for a classic, sometimes it's just plain highly-desired games of some sort (like the STALKER series), but usually it is reserved for the fans of the good old games part of GOG. ;-)

Powerslave, because using that album cover would have been too obvious (haha, I wish).

Well, it's not always a hint for a classic game (We did get a hint for Risen, after all). It's just that Judas said for the next week:

"Y'all thought we forgot the Enigmatic Hint, huh? :D

Here is your Enigmatic Hint for next week's classic."

could it be day of the tentacle?
My actual guess was Singularity, but that is from 2010.

It's a classic in my eyes :)

It would be great to see that here. A really overlooked gem.

It will be Timequest :-)

Telika: Timeshift ?
This was also my first thought.

There are apparently some bothersome compatibility issues with this one too, so if GOG was able to get it working dependably, it would be a real accomplishment and A+ release...
My guess is Paraworld. :-)

AdamR: Iron Maiden...
Caught Somewhere in Time...
A cyborg looking thing...

Has to be a Terminator game! It would be great to see 2029, Future Shock, or SkyNET. But unless you were able to sign Bethesda, I don't think we'll see those...
Terminator 2: Judgement Day (arcade game ported to DOS)?
I doubt Bethesda even has the rights to still sell them anyway. It's a licensed property, and I'm betting that license expired over 10 years ago...

tburger: There is a Red Guy and a Blue Guy - Z confirmed :-P

tfishell: I would like to know if it is before Steam's release or on the day of. EDIT: Of course maybe you were being factious when saying that.

Telika: Timeshift ?
avatar
tfishell: Looks kind of fun but if it's still under Sierra's/Activision's control, I'd be shocked if GOG released that before various other Sierra games. (I know the wishlist isn't a huge deal to people but Timeshift does only have 68 wishlist votes, whereas even Willy Beamish has more, and there's of course Bloodlines, SWAT 4, Empires: Dawn of the Modern World...)

I think I might stick with "Z", because I'm okay with tburger's take on it, and it would be utterly great to see the game here and get those 2500+ and 500+ wishlist entries marked off.

Hopefully, with Rise of Nation's appearing on Steam and Z eventually, GOG can start bringing the goodness back and give Steam more run for its money. I'll maintain some skepticism but it would be great to stay out of the on-off-ish lull I feel we've had these past few months.
I think you often place too much importance on the wishlist. No offense to anyone's tastes, but I think it's clear that Timeshift would sell a lot more than a game like Willy Beamish. I don't believe the wishlist is nearly as important in determining game releases as a lot of people seem to...

In the Wikipedia page for Somewhere in Time there is a link to the album cover.
There are many references to Powerslave (I'd love to see more people trying Exhumed too!) and Dune and... may I say it?

Blade Runner?

Blade Runner is in licensing hell. I'd love to be wrong about this, but it's not Blade Runner....

I agree. But... "Bradbury Towers", "Philip K Dick Cinema", "Blade Runner" ... ;-)
But, I am wrong very often !

yyahoo: ...
I think it would sell more if the game came with an automatic discount. (The game is $20 on Steam so I'm not sure it would be an "instabuy" title without a sale price initially.) Likewise it's important to take into account reception of the game, of which it seems "okay" or "decent" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TimeShift#Reception

Willy Beamish you might be right about, but I really doubt Timeshift would sell better than Bloodlines or SWAT 4.

Overall there are numerous factors to consider, but for me I need something I can get behind, and that has become with wishlist.
