DoomSooth: Fantasizing about characters purposely drawn to look like over-developed minors is common? When did that happen and why?
How many games are like that?
You can thank Japan for that
"cultural trend", the land where some women in their late 30s and 40s play dress-up and pretend to be high-schoolers and middle-schoolers.
To support my argument, I'll simply ask how many games are you aware of with such "minor characters" which are not hentai or anime inspired?
Beyond the morality of it all, which is a moot discussion, because we're talking about video games here, not real life - this appears to be if not socially acceptable, then at least socially tolerable in its culture of origin.
If you are worried about people who are playing these games actually acting on their rape fantasies with underage fictional characters which are hand drawn, let me ask you this - considering I have lost count of how many "people" (aka NPCs) I have ruthlessly sent to their deaths in video games, should I be considered somewhat of a psychotic killer, along with probably the large majority of FPS & RPG gamers?
If we were to prosecute people on what they thought of in their minds or lived in fantasy worlds, not based on their actions, 3/4 of the global population would be in jail, I'm sure.
DoomSooth: I've heard there's a way to kill the evil kids in Dying Light but it might involve cheating or just be a bug.
Funny you should mention that, because I just finished the game. There are 2 instances where you run across child zombies in the game, and you "get rid of them" by snapping their necks. I have to admit I was surprised Techland got away with it or chose to do it in the first place. It certainly has an effect on the player when you run into them rather unexpectedly. It's not a cheat or a bug, but rather a part of the overall horror theme of the game.
