I honestly knew (or strongly suspected) who created this thread just by reading the thread title. Well I didn't know with 100% certainty, but I totally expected darthspudius to be the thread starter, and lo-and-behold it was.

i wish more fun factor to this place in the form of moar games! I got delighted just learning that Egosoft is apparently listed as a GOG.com publisher, meaning probably at least X Superbox, I presume.

TARFU: Hey, it was supposed to be humorous, a joke. I think you took me a bit seriously.

I have no real desire to get into gifting or trading. Too many chances for scams, hurt feelings, etc.

BTW, I have noticed the broken rep system. Someone ought to do something about it. If only forums had moderators and administrators. Maybe one day those jobs will be invented.

Good point, and now I feel like a total asshole for mentioning it. Sorry.

Rep isn't the reason I'm pissed, I'm pissed because the people who are destroying/have destroyed this place, are proud of it, like it was a noble effort. I for the life of me don't get the motivation to come in and do that. Shit, the forum wasn't bothering anyone. I could see the point if it was an ecological hindrance, but no. We were just a group of gamers hanging out and having a good time, and some assholes decided "Hey, let's go in and trash that for no reason at all."

Boggles the mind.

Egosoft? Cool! Superbox already is DRM free, so this shouldn't be a problem for them. And Egosoft is known for removing the DRM from their games after a while, so maybe we get Albion prelude too.

I hope they'll allow us to redeem the games with the serial from the Superbox. This was possible on Steam, but I never did it.

Well as some folks have summarized before, this community is a little too generous for its own good it seems, Free games is what mostly attracts unsavory and juvenile characters that thrive on scamming/exploiting others for sport or whatever measly satisfaction it brings to their sad and pathetic existence. But expecting the community to completely stop doing what they have since almost the beginning of this forum is not a long term solution and neither is ignoring all the shit in the various threads because it won't disappear by itself.

So what really bothers me is GOG's continued apathy towards the forum and community in general, because if they really wanted to it wouldn't be hard to clean this place up without resorting to heavy moderation. A number of suggestions and feedback has been largely ignored which has resulted in what we are seeing now, a bunch of morons boasting about ripping off the good folks here as there are absolutely no repercussions whatsoever for anything on the fourm apart from using naughty words in the thread title.

Yup. Just create a sub forum called "Offtopic" and only allow people who spent at least 20 Bucks (or whatever) to post there. General Discussions would still be free for new users with questions and completely free of forum games, giveaways and other random threads.

I've seen lots of other forums with a "You need X posts to access the offtopic forums" barrier.
