Alexim: The problem isn't GOG, which would release Elden Ring immediately if it could, but Bandai Namco, which is one of those publishers that wouldn't release their games on GOG even under threat.

The only small thing we can do is to contact them repeatedly and in as many people as possible, until maybe they understand that they would earn some more money by releasing their games on GOG as well.
I was pretty surprised when Bandai Namco stopped using Denuvo. They haven't used it in any game since 2019. Think Code Vein was the last title of theirs to use it.

Tales of Arise released without Denuvo and was piratable on day one, and the same deal with Elden Ring. Both would be huge sellers here, by GOG standards at least.

And, yea, I agree. The only thing we, as GOG customers, can do is contact them in number to request certain titles and provide a reasonable and logical argument on why such games should release here on GOG, and if they ever do show up then we need to buy them.

I have a handful of studios that I reach out to on about a monthly basis requesting GOG releases. Square Enix (Japanese titles specifically), Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, Capcom, and a few others on occassion. Lately, I've been reaching out to SNK for The King of Fighters XV and the new Samurai Shodown, with the hope that something might happen on that.

That's what people have to do. The more people who do it, the higher the chance we'll see results. The way I look at it is if GOG customers aren't willing to sacrifice 30 minutes a month to reach out to these developers then we don't really deserve the games here.

Kelefane: Yeah. The Git Gud crowd in those games are awful. Those games are played by a cult with a hivemind mind set. Lol

Mafwek: WTF are you talking about? Git gud is basic principle of any videogame, and life itself. And git gud in life suck compared to soulsbornes.
The concept of Git Gud itself is fine. However, the phrase itself is useless bragging, just telling a person to get better without any guidance as to how it can be achieved. It would be like telling a person to "git gud" at English.

But we havent had Dark Souls or Sekiro on GOG yet so I doubt we are getting Elden Ring. Given the large number of mods for Dark Souls, a DRM-free Dark Souls would be amazing.
(maybe not that important to discuss tbh)

so how bad is the pc port? maybe it is not even an acceptable game
I would say Gog might get the game, with all the NOT drm-free games that get added or bypass the drm-free thing, and Gog being confused and '' Evolving '' only makes sense that it gets added

It's not "Dark Soul 1 bad" but it is definitely a step down from their recent games. Apparently they screw up their implementation of DirectX 12 and it results in shuttering and FPS drops every time a new monster or visual effect appear (Peoples say it's linked to the initial shaders compilation) even on beast configuration (3080+)

I have played for around 15 hours with my 2080Ti and while it is noticeable from time to time, luckily it doesn't happen when it matters (i.e. during boss fight) and the rest of the time I am at a stable 60fps with nearly everything at max.

In short it is noticeable and they need to fix it, but it doesn't make the game unplayable or un-enjoyable.

It's not like there are not any Youtube videos on how to get better in videogames, but I agree that idiots who measure their greatness in life by beating a Soulsborne game and trolling others who are struggling with it are just that, idiots. And for those who don't like Git Gud as a concept, well I am sorry, not every game is for everybody, I am just wondering what kind of games you play, since every game uses Git Gud to a certain level.

Completely agree. I think the issue with the "git gud" phrase comes from the fact that when a person comes to ask for advice, the response is "git gud" which is a meaningless phrase.

Yeah, ultimately games are just a combination of knowing what to do and execution and in terms of execution, the only thing you can do is practice but if you dont know what to do, the practice becomes frustrating because you dont know if you are doing it right.

The first 30 mins are pretty ok, can't vouch for the boss fights though, or the other parts of the game for that matter. I fear it will be the same experience as Nioh, first five hours manage to pull you in, great fights and then... you have some weird demon boss hidden in a ship with routines as an attack... bleh, it seems to be expected from the souls genre, personally i prefer somewhat more personality. The souls like that managed to grab my attention best atm is Jedi - Fallen Order

That's not accurate, other than for e-Sports type players, which is very few.

For 99%+ of players, the Souls-type games are about dying constantly, and gradually grinding out souls to level up your characters, and grinding out materials to level up your weapons, so that you eventually --- after tons of tedious repeatedly dying and grinding --- your equipment and stats become powerful enough that you stop getting owned constantly.
