AB2012: In fact, when I look for gameplay footage to decide if I want to buy it, or perhaps a walkthrough for a puzzle solution, I always search for "no commentary" stuff for a reason..
The problem with this is that, when searching "no commentary", since your search term includes the word "commentary", you are bound to get results that say "with commentary" (or something similar), which is clearly *not* what you are looking for.

MightyPinecone: - To many viewers. To me, the main point with a stream compared to a let's play is the interactivity; this is lost when there are too many people in chat spamming memes.
One tip: If the stream is a major event (like SGDQ, which is coming up), there may be some individual streamers hosting the big stream; the chat on the hoster's stream is going to be far less chaotic than the chat on the main stream.

(I think this is going to be true even if the main stream's chat is subscriber-only, as happened at AGDQ.)

* Streamer reads all the in-game text out loud, particularly for text heavy games like many RPGs.
Depends on the streamer. A good reader actually adds a a lot to the ingame texts.

You do know how searching with quotation marks works, right?

Thanks, I might look into it, if there is some game I really want to see.
I don't really like if the streamer has lots of viewers because it seriously limits the interaction. But then again, that's not really the streamer's own choice or that they could have any control over it.
I don't really care for watching game livestreams. If it's a game with a heavy amount of randomization and/or several different ways it can be legitimately played (or, sometimes, if it's just a good open-world and/or sandbox "fucking around" game), I might watch it, but I frankly prefer prerecorded stuff like YouTube LPs. [screed] I do not give half of a dry, whispery fart about "interacting" with you, Mr. Livestreamer, while you're streaming, and I care considerably less than that about interacting with your fans.
In fact, I get really irritated when you interrupt your playing a game to interact with fans; the only thing worse than constantly pausing the game to read chat is when you stop playing to read without even bothering to pause, sometimes resulting in your character dying, or you missing crucial info or something. I'm trying to watch you play a game (ideally well), not fucking read.
Also, I don't really care about your face. I want to see the game, not you. Yes, even if you're attractive. If you must plaster your face over part of the screen, please do so in as unobtrusive a manner as possible. If your facecam feed takes up an area larger than a standard playing card on a 15 inch laptop screen, then it's too fucking big. [/screed]
All this is on top of the things I hate about LPers and other YouTube gamers in general (which I'm not gonna get into here).

On a related note, the Twitch player is sore-ridden, flatulent ass.

I want to see that the game plays and know what system they used i.e, bugs out in W7 but plays ok in WX and don't crash on senario 5 because it got kicked out the door unfinished is the info I want from twitch steamers... I'm ok with a dress up or other theme as long as it has this basic part

don't like = Music that gets muted for copywight... must admit the gog team has learrnt this leason now but the early days were bad

stop watching = I vote Trump, think girls in short shorts are asking to be raped and GOD said Adom and Eve not Adom and Steve are things they can keep to them selves
I wish the pretty girls would play games that I like. Skyrim Fallout 4 ok. Fortnite, pubg and childish graphics no.
I don't like streamer like Alininty(Twitch Thot)

I do not watch competitive multiplayer games.

Well, to be granted, many of them don't have voice acting and you might have visually impaired people out there.

In my experience, a lot of people who create video walkthroughs or "Let's Plays" (without technically being "Twitch streamers") add that term specifically as part of the video's meta-data. I've found Youtube's search engine to be pretty good at placing those results first and understanding the context of "no".

As for your complaint of muting the in-game music, as others have said, a lot of that is due to some publishers previously abusing the DCMA "copyright infringement" take-down notices for the music soundtrack since streaming is technically a "performance broadcast to an audience", not just one person playing a game. Completely stupid, but that's the main reason audio gets muted in streamed games.
The old "actual game only takes up a portion of the screen" is probably the worst.

It's baffling when people can't figure out a simple border or overlay. If the smallest streamers can get a handle on it with even some nudging from me, what excuse do other streamers have?

That, and there's only so much you can do when some developer decided they wanted contemporary music rather than composing their own. See also: Tony Hawk, GTA, et al.

dtgreene: * Streamer speaks with an accent that's hard to understand. (If you're a streamer with such a bad accent, consider not using a mic.)
* Stream is not in English. (Sorry, but I only watch English streams, or commentary-free streams. It's OK for the game itself to be in another language, however.)
So you only speak English and complain about other people's accents?

Bouphe plays a lot of oldies, including Fallout and Morrowind in the past.
