tinyE: So you aren't upset about the prices of games on GOG, you are upset about the prices of games period?

I can't argue with that.

I would never pay $60 for a game.

GR00T: I don't know, his comment about 'at least try to compete with steam's pricing' makes it seem like he feels GOG is more expensive.
I agree but I'm not going to hang the poor guy yet. Maybe he misspoke.

Maybe he's covfefe. :P

In the EU regions the GOG prices for games like Kingdom: Deliverance are actually *slightly* better than on Steam, because due to the fair pricing policy they give users some store credit in addition to the game, for the same price.

Anyway, if you think the prices are too high, don't pay them and wait for good discounts, as probably most of us do.

Oh, entirely possible. And for what it's worth I agree with the sentiment that games are generally too pricey at release. As noted, I tend to wait for sales. It's the smart play, monetarily, at least.

GR00T: *edit* Tokyo Xanadu is the same price on both GOG and Steam for me as well ($68.99 CDN)
Are you not seeing it on sale here? I'm seeing $35 US.

Minuteworld: 60$
50$
40$...

why do these prices suck ass? this isn't console. this isn't steam either but atleast try to compete with steam's pricing
Could be worse. Could be a $60 game plus always online-drm, plus a season pass, loot boxes, microtransactions and DLC in order to get the 'full experience'......

*Cough* EA Battlefront 2 *cough*

At least you get what you pay for, and doesn't try to hide it.
I payed 120 Deutsche Mark for Battle Isle back in the day. 100 (with T-Shirt!) for Populous 2. 80 for PowerMonger, 60 for Turrican 3. They were all worth it.
I think I paid $50 for Diablo2, but that was with the Prima Guide and it was a midnight release sale.

For me it was Romance of the Three Kingdoms II back in the late 80s.

tinyE: Whenever someone comes to my B&B and says, "I'm not paying $165 for a room!" I tell them, "No problem. You can have it for $180."
We see the same in the self storage industry with one company's "$1 move in" special. What they don't tell folks is that you have to pay for the second month, admin and other fees, etc. And when you try to explain that to folks, they never believe you.....

Never had that... but Bandit Kings of Ancient China... with a really big printed manual detailing the background and all the main characters. Awesome, although I really sucked at the game.

Yes, but he specifically noted that Tokyo Xanadu when not on sale is $60, so I noted the base prices are the same here and on Steam.

But the dumb play if you want to have good games down the road, unfortunately. Sale culture is why big studios are so resistant to let go of in-game microtransactions, pay-to-win mechanics, and season passes. Sure, the sociopathic nature of corporate greed is why they came up with those ideas in the first place but if they can't pay programmers, we don't get games. Ain't nobody gonna make a KOTOR3 for $9 a pop.

If you're a collection junkie I get it, no sense spending $50 a title if you "need" to have 1500 games in your library. But I paid $70 for QfG2 on release day - that's about $130 in today's dollars. Worth every penny ^_^
