I noticed that A Hat in Time has gotten 3 updates in Galaxy since the launch of the DLC... I knew something was different on their end because the updates for the game used to come super slow, then I read this from the dev on the game's forum here on GOG:

Hi everyone, Jonas from Gears for Breakfast here!

When we started making A Hat in Time, GoG Galaxy was still in early development, so we weren't able to include all the new features that are now present in GoG Galaxy at launch.

However! With the new Seal the Deal DLC, we've taken the time to add support for achievements on GoG Galaxy! Additionally, thanks to the new build system on GoG, we're able to ship GoG updates as frequently as other platforms. Hurray!

Unfortunately there's no way for us to push update logs in the GoG Galaxy backend yet, but once that feature becomes available to developers we will start using that as well.

Thank you so much for enjoying A Hat in Time!

This gives me hope for the one thing that's annoyed so many users here on GOG... lags in updates... from what Jonas said here, if GOG sets every dev up with that kind of access, things are going to get better and better here!

Very promising to read that

There was hope, then it turned into another galaxy and achievements drivel.

That stuff may not be useful or interesting to some people, but for others, it's the difference between buying the game on Steam or here... they buy here, GOG does better, we all win

While it would have been awesome if the OP informed us that world peace was finally achieved or climate change had been stopped, I guess this is good news at least ;)

I blame Gog users who wanted a Steam like client and the achievements whores .
There is Hope!

Okay, that was stupid. :P

I don't get people who say stuff like this... GOG has said Galaxy will remain optional forever... so why does it bother you? You can see what this dev has said that this is a GOOD thing for him and it won't affect you negatively, so why the hate? Don't get it
This is great news. I got Hat in time during the humble monthly, and due to multiple complaints about the old version on GOG, I decided to redeem my HB key. But when all the DLC will be released on GOG, I'm going to buy a complete copy and play it here. Until then, my current steam version gets to collect dust.

Thank you, Gears for Breakfast, for being awesome!

The £10 000 question: Will the NON-Galaxy version get any updates as well? Now this is probably why some are not too overjoyed about the news.

Of course it is good that they updated the game.

I wonder how that will work... if devs start pushing updates too quick (in the case of A Hat in Time, there’s been 3 since the DLC hit, one of those updates even came in on the weekend) there’s no way GOG will be able to keep pace packaging installers and patches

Monday will do just fine.
Achievements aren't drivel; they are great!

Good on these devs for deciding to stop treating GOG customers like second-class citizens by finally giving them Achievements on the GOG version just like the Steam version also has.

Of course it will. Whenever GOG Galaxy is updated GOG is able to do the offline installer builds from the files they received. However because of this it will still take a bit longer than the Galaxy update. Still I don't understand the hate because without Galaxy the update would not even arrive here at GOG at all in time according to the devs. So yes, this IS a good thing - a VERY good thing.

No mention on your side about the missing updates that should now arrive? So are Achievements for you even more important than the game itself?

Achievements for me are a strange thing. I remember when I got my first one and I just thought "what was this sound and why did something pop up?". Then I tried to click on it in the list to see if something would happen but it did not. But in general that is all achievements are doing: make a sound and showing a pop up as well as "unlocking" an entry in a list. You still would have achieved the same things if the "achievement" did not exist - achievements are simply proof that you did this ... so I guess this badge of honor you can show others is the reason why achievements became so popular? I doubt the "yay, it popped up" feeling could be the reason. Maybe somebody should open a thread about this ... I sense an interesting discussion here....
