Shadowstalker16: You're right; the new Radeons are comin up and it'll probably be a few months until they're dirt cheap (except anywhere in Asia ofc). Anyhow; isn't DX12 being released after TW3? Last time they seemed to say early Q4 or smth.

stg83: Indeed, it will be coming after the release of Witcher 3 probably along with the launch of Windows 10 at the beginning of the holiday season.
For some reason a holiday season release seems suspicious ''cough''UBISOFT''cough''; even if its an OS.

P911GT3RS: I agree that this is the best way to handle this situation but most would like to enjoy the game from day one and benchmarks might be misleading as drives will be immature at least for AMD due to collaboration of Red with nVidia...
Don't you find it ironic that CD Projekt Red actually teamed up with green?

Indeed mate, what an irony there!

Jokes aside I wish they cooperate smoothly with AMD too in order for them to be able make a driver after 1-2 months that is good enough to not have inbalanced performance between power leveled GPUs.
The level of bias in some GW titles are too hardcoded to fix with a mere driver update.AMD needs the code at pre-natal development stage to optimize it; and Nvidia doesn't allow sharing of code.

I second that, but honestly, I doubt Nvidia would allow that, if they have any leverage on CDPR: Nvidiay really needs to "compensate" for their 4Gb fiasco. Regardless, it would be a damn shame for Red Tribe to wait to be able to play game at normal performance. I wonder, whether R9 290x in Crossfire would be able to compete with single GTX 980 in "almost constant 60 FPS@ contest or they'll lose till R9 3## arrival? Nobody doubts CDPR's ability to deliver good story, but technical side is at the question. Recent "previews" of Witcher 3 I've been able to gather actually raise (because raisins!) questions regarding technical side of the game, including, vegetation downgrade, and PC Master Race consoles.

Damn it, why wouldn't CDPR join the Mantle, while EA could join Nvidian stuff for all I care?:D

I just wish we don't face another Batman's optimization story all over again...

When did CDP become the bitch of the hardware companies and graphics whores ? I thought the Witcher series is all about the gameplay ( especially the story ) and not about the graphics . Now i will not be able to complete the story .
I have never had a PC that was able to play a witcher game at release, it was probably 2 years later that I got the first one and the second one I bought on PC in two versions, the second was a sort of patched "optimised" version that still wouldn't play, so I had to get the 360 version which was quite a compromised experience IMO.

At least I have a PS4 now that will play this one at release with (hopefully) a semblance of PC ability.

It's a shame that they release games with such high specs, I'm pretty sure it loses them a significant audience share.

Still, the games are very good, so I hope this one will also be a success for them.
Greetings! So according to W3's system requirements i will not be able to run it probably. AMD 7870 agains my 6900 series. But GTA V came out and i can run it on high settings. So the question is: SERIOUSLY? WHAT THE HELL? Why can't they just make W3 with the graphics of W2 XD?

Arguably it also gains them some sales among other customer groups. People who perhaps wouldn't normally buy this kind of RPG game, if it wasn't for the impressive technology and eye candy.

Plus, their games tend to scale well with new hardware releases. The Witcher 2 still looks great, even compared to recent releases, and I suspect TW3 will also remain visually, and technologically "up to date" for years to come. Especially since the open world nature of the game will likely attract a respectable modding community.

I'm in the same boat kinda. I read the req's and it said my CPU was not the minimum (i7 920 &clock speeds) but when I asked someone else if I should be able to run it with a GTX 970, they said yes. HOWEVER until that card arrives (tomorrow), I am stuck playing GTAV at normal settings due to the current 550 ti GPU. They made it graphically demanding for a reason.

You can make it "W2 quality graphics" by simply lowering the settings and disabling some modern effects. But it would likely still have somewhat higher requirements, simply because of the open world design, and other increases in complexity compared to W1 & W2.

I got around it by buying a PS4 :)

That works too, and has the advantage that you could also get yourself a copy of Bloodborne. Thus, I am now officially a little jealous. Just a wee bit.
