I think my Phenom II X4 965BE can tide me over for this, but I need a new video card, no question. I will probably wait for the new Radeons to get released and then purchase a 290 or something cheap

Is there a timeframe when the next set of video cards come out? I'd also probably be in the market for a 290 if the price is right.
AMD Pirate Islands will be released in 2-3 months, but for nVidia Pascal you will have to wait a year or more.
Oh shoot I don't even meet the minimum system requirements... to be honest I just need to upgrade my video card, I currently have a GTX 570, which has been running great so far.

Exactly what I'd do if being in your shoes. 290 will be great and many used and cheap ones will be found too in a few months.

In next 2-3 months new gen will probably be out from AMD and some new ones from nVidia.

I only hope those coinminers won't cause another price peak for Radeons, which should be less expensive than Nvidias..
yep... no witcher 3 for me :/
For many years I have to wait until the "most advanced" hardware, required to play then modern games became affordable for me. If Witcher 3 will be great game, it won't turn worse with years, therefore, there will be no point in being sorry for being unable to play it after release. And if, the Emperor (not Emhyr!) protects, Witcher 3 will be less than stellar, there will be even less reasons to be sorry. So cheer up, there is are a lot of other games we can enjoy, because we missed them when they were new. :)
Will I be able to play TW3 moderately well ( at least, after their optimization and/or AMD graphics driver optimization)? My specs are given below. I would've been able to run DA:I reasonably well, I've been told. (I have no problems with low-medium combination graphics settings) I know I don't meet the GPU specs, but I want opinions of seasoned gamers here.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz
8GB DDR3
SAPPHIRE HD7770 GHz Edition 1GB GDDR5
Res. 1366x768

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - PC System Requirements are here!"
I'd say they're rather high up in the sky ;-)

So you want to say we need BIGGER guns to bring them down?:)

I think that'll be enough. I'm on a slightly weaker RAM and slightly stronger GPU atthe same resolution; and 768p is a sweet stop for good fps and visual quality.

Hehe, comparing to a T-34/85, we might need an Armata ;-)

According to a timeline, T-34/85 is pretty much advanced hardware, and what we have is somewhere around T-62, tops (upcoming R9 300x). So if Witcher 3 requires Armata to run, I don't know, if our grand-children would be able to play Witcher 3. :D
