That would be a new considering it's usually the other way around to appease a larger audience. I think they have gone overboard, I'm not sure that this level of fidelity was actually needed. After all, how will they beat expectations for their next game? Their budget/graphic department(s) will be a heavy cost for them. That said, I think it's good that the minimum requirements is not a non-dedicated GPU like those integrated chips. They aren't meant for modern gaming anyway.
By the way, for the specs listed - i assume minimum sys rec is whats needed for the game to actually run?. what would be the standard resolution set? (i assume some of us with video cards not up to scratch would still be able to run it at a lower res - not everyone games on 1920x.....)
Hard to say but in these days 1080p seems to be the norm so if you have anything larger than that I wouldn't expect to run, probably crash due to lack of RAM or VRAM. If you play at something like 720p or less, I wouldn't worry.ZocomMAX

Game's requirements are too high for me.
My laptop meets all the requirements, except of the GPU, which is based on directx 10 (geforce 330).
Unfortunately, I have to wait a few years, until my system will be replaced! :-(

My laptop does not meet the minimum requirements, but I will probably purchase it anyway (after getting the Witcher 1). I am willing to run it on low settings...

Kordac: How can the minimum be a i5 2500k or a Phenom ii 940? those 2 chips aren't even comparable in power.
Neobr10: The GTX770 and the R290X are not comparable either. The R290X is comparable to the GTX780 Ti. We also have to see how Microsoft want to play out the new Windows 10 as it will be rather near in time for the finishing release of a public version of this OS.
For those people on Microsoft Windows XP: major version of Windows XP where pure 32 bit and that might be a big reason why CD Projekt RED could not offer support for Windows 32 bit XP users. I had myself for a very long time a 64 bit version of Windows XP x64, so I know that we where rather few as we had to get it as an OEM version. The official support from Microsoft for MS Windows XP have also ended, so I do not see any reason why CD Projekt RED should use their time outside of DirectX11 (as this version should be able to work Windows 7 and to Windows 10, which I am using right now).
According to this Wiki about DirectX11, it seem that almost all OS from Vista up to Windows 10 (at least running in 64 bit) should be able to support (through API) Direct3D in hardware for D3D 9/10/10.1-class hardware.
It might be worth to notice that for those people with a integrated GPU on prosessor like Intel Graphics 4600 HD or intel HD 4600 for short, it did work well to play both Witcher EE and Wither 2. It is not the highest resolution or IQ, but it works. It is worth to try this out before one start to complain about have a weak GPU, that it might also work to use the iGPU from processor until one can afford an upgrade on video card or even a new system.
Make use of this to find out what version of processor and iGPU support you will have: http://ark.intel.com/
For mobil user like laptop, make use of Mobile Processors.
If you don't know what you have inside your machine: Use CPU-Z!

Whats a decent vid card for under 200 USD (cheaper the better) - not fussed about framerates or bs like that (hopefully one that wont cause me to buy another PSU just to run it) .Just a decent card that will run TW3 (i already have a i52 2500 + 8gb ram etc....) ?. GTX 750TI still the best value? (i have an old HD5670 - yes im not a hardcore gamer).

I'm fine with it, but too bad for the laptop and old-tech users. I hope you know what you're doing, GOG. :P

I'm good the game should work at med to high for me the only problem I have is the Video card. I'm running the GTX 760, but by the time this game comes out I'm planning on having the GTX 980.
As for everyone complaining about it being 64bit, If you are a PC gamer you need to get with the time and move to 64bit. Running the 32bit windows is like hope the Xbox one game will work in or Xbox 360 or in the original Xbox.

DreamedArtist: All I know is I am ready for this and will eat it for lunch with my 8 core intel and 3x 980's, BRING IT CD BRING IT ON I AM READY! >:(
3x GTX980? That's impressive. Pity if the game lacks SLI support at release though. It's 64bit only? And DX11 only? Oh my, CDProject is making progress.
