Wonderful... anyone know how to upgrade the i-chips? I knew we were going to have to upgrade the graphics, but I was hoping the CPUs would be ok.
Holy shit. I barely meet specs on this. Time for a new GFX board. Does 3DFX still make good cards?

MarioFanaticXV: Huh... My processor is the exact one listed in the minimum specs.

DirectX 11 as a requirement is a horrible choice though- that means XP users can't play at all.
Windows XP released nearly 14 years ago, it is time to let it go. Don't be Frozen, just let it go.
Wow. My scrap pile computer would only require a graphics upgrade to play The Witcher 3. I doubt I'll be getting a new graphics card for a while though so I was wise to pass on the Witcher pre-order.

Sure, their latest card, the Voodoo 5 6000, is awesome! Completely rapes the S3 DeltaChrome S8 and the PowerVR STG4500.

... wait, which year is this again?

I got an AMD A4-5300 APU Radeon HD all-in-one motherboard, (doesn't need sound or video cards cause they're built-in) is this better or worse than the requirements in the OP?

Worse, much more worse I'm afraid.

i_am_avery: I'm at the same situation. Are you planing on upgrade? I don't have the money to do so... so I'm screwed... Should've bought a PS4
Well, a quick google search says that 305$ the processor and 399$ the graphics card. So shall I waste 700$ to left click my mouse? Nope.
The game looks gorgeous and I am sure it shall be fun, as I enjoy RPG's in general and the Witcher in particular, but I find idiotic spending that kind of money just for graphics. Even if I had the money, which I have not.
I love PC, but yeah, if I were you, I would go for the PS4.

Sure, it can be played, but at 30FPS and pretty low res. So, it's really 60FPS and 1440p resolution, faster loading times, modding and mouse and keyboard support.

I'd pay 1000 euro for that, and I have.
That's awesome, my new rig exactly matches the recommended!

Does anyone have an idea if the recommended req. means being able to run it on max/ultra and 60fps (1920x1080)?

Aningan: Auch! I barely meet the minimum specs. I need to buy a new PC this year.
Same here.
Now thats not a surprise. After seeing the first clip of this game i was sure that my PC can't play it properly.
Even with recommended requirements I've my doubts about running smooth with high details.
Ah, well one of those games i may buy if i can get a nice collectors edition (one with a statue) or for console (after
checking every review).
Lets see on May 19th (or later).
MONSTER.
lucky I didnt pre-order yet.

I have a question about system reqs for The Witcher 3 and, unfortunately, I am unable to contact support. Attempting to use the Support function for Technical Issues results in an endless loop and attempting to use Other, which I've been told is not checked as often, does not allow me to upload my DxDiag.txt file (it says 'wrong file format' and has been this way for some time).*

Compared against the MINIMUM specs for the game, my computer has available:

-Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz (8 CPUs), 2.0GHz;
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M
-8GB RAM
-Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.140706-1506)
-DirectX 11
->300GB free HDD space

What can I do? Will I legitimately not be able to run the game and, therefore, pursue a refund on my pre-order? Or will I be able to run the game at reduced settings? I'm unable to afford a new gaming laptop** for at least a year and I'd rather wait on that purchase until GOG is able to make sure their titles work on Windows 10.

_____
*If my DxDiag.txt file will be helpful, I'd appreciate someone from the support staff contacting me with an e-mail address I can send it to.

**Current laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio X505 version that has seen me well for a bit over 4 years now. I have the great luxury of being able to game at work so, for me, a gaming laptop is a much better situation than a desktop.

High specs. Are they going for the highest common denominator or something?.

By the way, for the specs listed - i assume minimum sys rec is whats needed for the game to actually run?. what would be the standard resolution set? (i assume some of us with video cards not up to scratch would still be able to run it at a lower res - not everyone games on 1920x.....)
