Those specs are basically for top-tier gaming PCs of 2 years ago and near top-tier gaming PCs of today. Nice :)

Too bad AMD isn't out with a new top-tier CPU to replace the FX8350, but the new 8GB video cards, such as the 290X will be put to good use on that game.
Gonna say it here:
1.Specs mentioned are probably for 1080p
2.It doesn't specify VRAM; so I don't think 6GB RAM will NOT be needed if you have around 1-1.5VRAM at least and 4GB RAM
3.40GB install = max 30GB download; which means compressed textures, sound, video and anything else. So the more cores, the better!
4.Will 95% sure to play on lesser than min specs on 768p/720p.
5.Someone start a wish in the wishlist for a low-resolution texture pack or a version with uncompressed textures but larger download so people with lesser cores can run it.
propose to move out for another six months or a year and make the normal system requirements
This is normal fare for the entire Witcher series. By the time I'm ready to play it, I think I'll meet the specs just fine. But right now, I'm financially maxed on RAM (more RAM would be 1/2 the cost of replacing everything). It should be a thrill!
Bummer. Good thing I didn't pre-order it yet because my system only meets the requirements in the RAM and HDD space department. :(

I guess I was a tad too optimistic that I still had a chance to run it even on lower settings, seeing how well my lappie handled W2. =/ Guess I won't play this particular game for another two years or so then. On the bright side, I'll probably be able to get the game for a really good price at that point. Heh.
I should be fine i gues @ 1080p and ultra settings with my 4930k 16gb ram, and two gigabytes gtx 980 gaming in sli mode.
Where does an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T fit into the processor reqs? I know my video card is way below min, but that's easier to replace than the mobo/CPU.
Well...guess that pre-order purchase I was planning at the end of the month is now out the window. While my PC is above minimum requirements, I'm just not sure how well will the game run. Loyalty discount was a great incentive to pre-order, but if it won't run well, might as well wait for a sale and upgrade my machine in the meantime.

blotunga: So time to upgrade laptop. Btw. it would be nice to put the requirements for laptop users also, something like: Minimum Laptop, Minimum Desktop.
Well, I just try to estimate how fast e.g. my laptop GPU is compared to desktop GPUs.

The minimum GPU (Geforce GTX 660) sounds quite high for me for a minimum requirement, but then I guess this game is next gen. So based on that, I think my current gaming laptop's Geforce GTX 670M is apparently well below the minimum requirements (GTX 670M is considerably below GTX 660, I think). GTX 980M (like in ASUS G751JY gaming laptop) is probably high above the recommended specs.

Anyway, I guess I will see whether it will still run playably on GTX 670M. Doesn't matter much, I probably have upgraded a couple of times before I even play the game, I'm yet to properly play the first two Witcher games, even though I've owned them for ages. :)

Elmofongo: I don't know whats my Intel Core Processor but I currently have a GTX 650. Not enough to play this game at Ultra settings :(

Unless I cave in and Buy a PS4 or Xbox One for this game.

CharlesGrey: No such thing as "Ultra" quality on consoles. *cough*

I'm curious how it will run on the consoles, but there's no way it will look/perform better than the max settings on PC.

Anyhow, these requirements actually seem quite reasonable, compared to some of the ridiculous releases PC gaming has seen lately.
Like Arma 3 and Battlefield 4?

blotunga: I was thinking to get the Asus G751JY-T7015D. It's about 1450 euros...
Is that the G751JY that has GTX 980M? Probably not as it is so cheap (the G751JY with GTX 980M costs here 1699€ currently).

At least based on that 3D Mark page someone linked, at leat GTX 980M should be clearly enough for the recommended settings. The recommended GTX 770 GPU got 6157 points in G3D Mark, while GTX 980M mobile GPU got 7019.

Then again, the GTX 980M seems to be high above any of the earlier mobile GPUs in performance, even from NVidia. E.g. the earlier kings, 970M and 880M, get around 4000 points. Quite a staggering improvement in high-end mobile GPU performances all of a sudden, earlier it seemed each new mobile Geforce flagship GPU brought something like 10-20% improvement at best over the earlier kings of the hill...

Just like W2, this game seems to be one of those heavy bastards in years. My 7870 just meets the min specs and in most modern games it's the recommended card :p

Let's hope you guys release the codes on time to the AMD team so we can at least expect an optimized driver :)

MarioFanaticXV: Huh... My processor is the exact one listed in the minimum specs.

DirectX 11 as a requirement is a horrible choice though- that means XP users can't play at all.
Seriously?

It is with 980m but it lacks ssd and it has only 8GB of ram. But I can get those separately anyway. And it is without Windows, another 100 euros less.

Yeah, I think GTX 980M is pretty much good for recommended requirements.
