ValamirCleaver: Anyone recall years back when GOG announced that they were going to put a Galaxy client installer in every offline game installer? Anyone remember the large number of forum posts from users pushing back on this action? Anyone recall in light of such response that GOG did not follow through on this proposed course of action?

I suggest everyone unhappy with this Witcher 3 announcement to make your opinions on the subject know to GOG.

The main fear is cyberpunk 2077 still has a rewards system, there is not a big chance they will remove it for Witcher 3. I still feel most people should start sending in support ticket letting GOG know there upset. But this is all just my opinion.

I'm back, and what's the first thing I see? GOG completely shitting the bed yet again.

Is it arrogance? Complete disdain for your offline customers who won't use your precious client? Is it sheer incompetence? Does the GOG staff live in a bubble?

How can you be so out of touch, so detached from your user base and your core principle that you make a separate thread to actively announce that you've added DRM'd content to your biggest game?

Why exactly is it so hard to add an offline installer for the bonus content? You managed to force DLC into my account that I didn't ask for, for a game I don't even own, but you can't do this for us?

Now there's an early Christmas gift right there!

Good to have you back!
It's mind-boggling that GOG thought it would be a "good" idea to make a PR announcement wherein they openly flaunt the fact that they have added DRM to Witcher 3, and they want their customers & fans to be "happy" about this.

It feels this OP post belongs in the Twilight Zone world, not in the real world.

Speculation: maybe it's CDPR's contractual obligations to Valve. CDPR is using this to get Steam customers to create GOG accounts - in the instructions for Steam customers they're called "REDlauncher accounts", but they're GOG ones. Valve have a requirement about not treating Steam customers worse than other stores' customers, so if Steam customers need a rebranded Galaxy launcher to get these things then maybe CDPR has to force all other stores to require a Galaxy launcher too.

If that's right then it stinks though.

One of the reasons I buy games here was that they didn't do nonsense like this. I don't use Galaxy; so no reward for me I guess. Thank you GOG.

I haven't posted here in a long, long time, but I guess some things should be said to GOG.

Were this an isolated case, one could even half-ignore it... and hey, one can even argue that it's a reward item and that it doesn't really add much to the game and doesn't affect the single player experience overall, but the principle behind it is not great, especially after the Cyberpunk-rewards backlash and the Hitman debacle.

Furthermore, I think it's quite obvious that they've been showing the middle finger to non-galaxy users for years, you need to be blind not to see it - and this is coming from someone who does use Galaxy.

But more than that, I think we'd like an answer as to why all this is happening, some honesty. I'd rather take honest bad news than this obscurity-until-you-find-out sort of thing. I know it's an answer we'll never get, especially because GOG communicates with its clients about as well as dead goat.

I used to like shopping here for games, especially for the DRM-Free aspect (and that is what still keeps me around, to a degree), even despite GOGs apparent lack of actual will in making a Linux client. Skyrim finally landing here gave me a sliver of hope that things could improve, for some reason, but I guess it was too much to expect.

GOG has indeed done a lot for DRM-Free gaming in the past, but misguided ideas and a complete lack of direction have gone a long way in not inspiring much confidence over the past couple of years.

Requiring activation to receive game content.

How is this "DRM-free" ?

There are download links for the GOTY, but currently they don't work. We'll see if GOG fixes that or removes them.

The links have been fixed, including the missing Part 8 of the installers which remained broken.

The DRMed content for Cyberpunk 2077 is the reason why I've never purchased that game, even though it's something I would love to play. So that issue did not affect me much personally (other than not getting to play that game, of course).

The big problem is how this developer had the gall to include DRM content retroactively to a game people have owned for years through a mandatory forced "update". This does affect me personally now, as I don't want my game library on GOG associated with DRM garbage. Absolutely incredible how they thought this would be a good idea, when their sister company is operating a "DRM-free" store...

Sad day.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt base version (no DLC one) only has one 1mb install file that shows 404.

Well unlike definitive edition of original sin 2 (merged the old version and new one doubling the file size+apparently added a stupid launcher) , and more recently Saints row 4 re-elected (which replaced the game of the century edition) witcher 3 at least HAS the old version. I'm getting sick and tired of no warning, games being replaced in my library, with no way to revert, and literally lost the little trust i still had for GOG.

As for the GOG galaxy, the only and i mean ONLY reason i started buying here was because NO CLIENT, NO BLOATWERE!

It would be nice if you remove those HUGE obnoxious DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL NOW butons from online library! There's a GALAXY AD at the front page, purple discover galaxy button at the bottom and two more in the dropdown menu, that should be more than enough for those who actually use the thing.

ps. Game counter in the drop down menu is still not visible.
