I would like to ask for 1Byte2Bits proposal from another thread, could you rename version with offline installers to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Almost Complete Edition"? Then it would be always obvious who played DRM free version and who not.

I guess these rewards serve as a Fuck you to those using the offline installers. :P
Message received. ;)

BreOl72: I am sure this will go down well.
Well it's certainly fascinating how the logical outcome of "We strive to ensure that torrented Galaxy versions of CDPR games always provide more content to pirates than offline installers to do paying customers" almost but never quite seems to register...

Rewards? You mean punishments for those who don't kowtow to y our new pro-DRM strategies. Intentionally withheld content explicitly to punish your longest, most supportive customers for daring to have principles against your recent unscrupulous behavior.

more details....

'Do I have to be connected to the internet in order to participate in MY REWARDS?

An internet connection is required to register with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt MY REWARDS. Once claimed, rewards will be yours to keep regardless of whether you’re playing online or offline. Please note that if you begin a new game, you will need to log in again to obtain the rewards in that save file.'

so, after first online(to reclaim), you can stay offline, from what I understand

I should be mad, but taken as whole, this is kind of hilarious.

These are the voyages of the Galaxy-class starship G.O.G. Shift+Altprise. It's mission? To discover strange new ways to implement DRM.

Captain: all right crew, there's a lot of people complaining about the DRM we put into the Witcher 3 with those rewards. Any ideas?

Tactical officer: we could add them as an offline backup installer and apologise.

Science officer: we could slingshot around the sun to go back in time to before we added the DRMed rewards and stop ourselves!

Strange puddle of barely santient goo they picked up on Glob-Gloop VII: we could make a separate announcement about how great those rewards are and that they should use Galaxy to get them immediately! >happy puddle noises<

Captain: By the Antares Maelstrom, that's brilliant! Make it so!

adamhm: Feels more like a "fuck you" to everyone not using Galaxy, and to GOG's former "core value" of being fully DRM-free (*at least for offline/single player). Very disappointing but not surprising I guess :/
I didn't like using Galaxy since it was a very inferior client. Still I used to use it when I had a weak network connection as a download manager. Ever since I have migrated to using Linux I have been happy to leave Galaxy behind.

But even if I wanted to use Galaxy I wouldn't have any straightforward way to do that, since GOG will probably release the Linux version for the app in 2077. Also, the need to connect to a server to add rewards in a singleplayer game seems stupid. But they have done the same with CP 2077, so I am not surprised. Just hoped this time they would have had a bit more sense. But maybe that is just me.

I was quited excited when I saw the title of this thread because I thought GOG were rolling back the shit but apparently they're just trampling it in more thoroughly.

I'd love to know the thought process behind this announcement.

Saints Row games have a steam shirt you can get in the game if you have it on steam. They don't if you have the game on GOG, big surprise, I know.

Some of the constantly raging people on GOG have said that shirts like this are an essential part of the game and the game is incomplete without them and somethin somethin experience. So what gives?

But that's old news anyway. Now a different shirt in a different game is the newest latest outrage :D

This thread will be full of the stupidest and most grotesque shit by tomorrow, but I still wish every participant happy holiday season, a lot of energy, and as little stress as possible, preferably with the help of food, tea, and deep long breaths. :D
I'm wondering if this is the reason I didn't receive an update flag for the offline installer.

I have had enough of gog openly taking the piss and this thread is insult to injury.

Just sent in a support ticket asking for a refund on my Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Complete edition based on the fact that the game/my license to use the game has been updated to include DRM sold by a site that claims to be DRM free.

By my reckoning, my purchase is approx 6 years old.

I have in the past had refund requests for approx 2 years upheld due to DRM (DEFCON)

I will surely reply on the outcome of this request as it may help others.

Edit: added support ticket number #1424710, slim chance it will be expediated but this thread is highly visible and many will be interested in the outcome.

I wouldn't bother posting since it will be the same arguments we had in the last thread. Look who replied to the thread already. It's no surprise. We all know Free cosmetics DLC is the world ending. haha

I'm okay with the DLC, as it's just cosmetics and free. Once they force people to pay for DRM DLC or start locking story content out, they can screw off.

I'd say it's the difference between an incomplete game and an incomplete game caused by GOG/CDPR deliberately adding/allowing DRM in their own products.

What do you think will make those hardcore DRM-free forumites give up on their ideals?

Oh, I know! An in-game Gwent card with Roach!
