Satisfying!

We're testing out an up-and-coming feature in GOG Galaxy: Achievement Notifications that will be part of the game overlay in the future, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is our playground!

You too can experience that satisfying feeling of scoring a new achievement in GOG Galaxy, but beware - it's a Beta feature that's still being tested. On you.

November 12 - Update:
To enable your Achievement Notifications, first make sure that you have claimed and installed the 16 Free DLC pack. You should now see a new Game Overlay setting in the client (enabled by default), use this toggle to enable or disable the feature.
If you don't see your notifications - make sure that the feature was enabled for you automatically, or simply try turning it off and on again.

Enjoy the new (and easier to use) Achievement Notifications in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!
I am having a lot of CTDs myself, like every 3-5 minutes, at random points of the game. I glimpsed this Achievement-popup upon completing the Therazane contract in Novigrad. I am on Windows 10 Pro, regular Galaxy client (no "test preview"), no mods.

System: i5-4690/16GB, GT 960/2GB.

EDIT -- It seems that the Windows 10 update what the cause of my CTDs. Apparently, the (...silent...) update installation had some issues yesterday. So: I re-ran the whole thing today, completed it successfully, played W3 for about an hour with no CTDs and even unlocked two new achievements and witnessed the pop-up :)

toggstar: The achievement pop-up works as advertised, but my game has had a couple of random CTD.
But to be fair I can't say if it's the galaxy update or the windows 10 update that causes the crashes.
If you're experiencing any crashes after enabling the overlay, please post a few more details to help us find any issues:
- you OS, DirectX and graphics driver version
- graphics card morel you're using
- any graphical mod software (SweetFX, etc.)

If the game crashes in any particular spot repeatedly it would also be helpful if you could post a save game.
Was just playing the Witcher 3 and an achievement popped up! Would like to say that it didn't affect my game badly like I thought it would and also that it was an absolutely stunning design for a simple achievement pop up. Good work on this guys, if the whole overlay looks as good as that did I look forward to the future of this client!
Most importantly, we're sorry about the inconvenience this must have caused. We're gamers ourselves, so we know full well how disappointing it is when your game suddenly refuses to work.

On top of what songoqu and Venom said, I also sent emails to you guys, asking for additional info, with some more specific instructions. I hope you can help us help you. :)
Well, reported the issue with all my logs barely two months ago ; )
My problem with CTDs seems to have resolved. The Win10 update was the culprit! Check my edited post a bit above for some more details.

Thanks again to GOG support for their fast response!

AMD Gaming Evolved (though the game crashes also when I stop it)
Huh, how will this help me now that after 1,550 hours I finally got it to 100% and all achievements earned? =/

I've also been getting the random CTDs every few minutes. Mostly triggered at the beginning or end of quest dialogue scenes and when accessing a travel point.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 using 355.98
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
No graphics mods.
w sobotę pobrało mi się ok 30 mb aktualizacji i od tego momentu gra się zawiesza.
przeinstalowałem ją na nowo ale nic nie pomogło głównie przy dialogach się wiesza
windows 8.1 64 bit
radeon R9 200 Series
cpu i5 3,40GHz
ram 8 GB ddr3

a wcześniej się nie zawieszała

Totally agree!
Since the service has been plagued with problems from the start, the developer should have given the players the choice to reset the achievements - well, now that I think about it, the option to reset achievements should be implemented regardless. Another way to extend "achievements lifetime" and game replay-ability would be to re-earn achievements at "New Game+", if not at any "New Game" play through.

Unfortunately there was a multitude of changes between 1.08 and 1.11 regarding both the game and the overlay. Some problems were fixed, but new ones might have arisen. If you are still experiencing problems then I would like to ask you to submit a new ticket to our support team.

What module are you playing? The base game or the Hearts of Stone expansion?
