IronArcturus: I hope this means the patches will always be standalone as well. A lot of users like to manually install their patches to their games.
This really should be the case, since some people mod their games, and for this, auto-updating has to be disabled, or Galaxy will probably "restore" the modded files.

i know you have no idea :

but if you add the mess with the unbundling + the new accoint system , which honesty even with an open mind is not designed for desktop use, i try to use it, to make some propositions to improve its use.... but in its current state..... i'm not very confortable with it....vs the old one which have a decent design.... I admit the old account system & library had some issues because of the increasing numbers of games.

and as pointed some others gog already killed a part of the downloader function , you can't download an extra separally ...

and i must say :

1 - i worked and still working in my end on the game titles : the games unbundled in many case is a non-sense :
half-done , some itltes in a package are scattered through the whole library without any relation in the title.

2 -the alphabetical order , er well , ..... i don't call that sorted .... really, and gog throw away the manual sorting (personnaly with the time i was used to the "gog"s aphabebical order") denying to yours customers the abiliy to arrange their library how they wanted. I could understand the technical issue for the moment, i just hope GOG will reintroduce this ability in the future for the sanity of your customers :)

Regarding the unbundling:

You and anyone else who wants to play their games in their native language now have a better chance of receiving a given game that used to be bundled all in one as part of a package in a different language. We now have the possibility to add individual translations of games that are sold in packs without affecting the other games in a given bundle.

In the old system, this would have been impossible due to EVERYTHING being in one installer. If and when we add anon-English version of a game only those who wish to play a particular game of a series in French or German will need to download that particular version leaving the English speakers (most English-speaking players do not like having a slew of languages added to their install without so much as a by-your-leave) free to play their games as they choose and saving them the time and bandwidth.

Does this mean that language updates are going to start magically appearing due to the unbundling? No, I guarantee nothing but the possibility of this actually happening because we can do this much better now.

As for the sorting, nothing I can do about it but re-direct you to the Feature wishlist.

If you would like clarify "some itltes in a package are scattered through the whole library without any relation in the title.", please do so. It's been a long day for me so you may have to explain it to me like I am five atm.

This is probably refering to the coming soon™ feature that keeps game series together. At the moment for example The Longest Journey is in a completely different place then the two following games since they start with Dreamfall.

In in regards of unbundled games, the example would be Beyond Zork which is of course in a different place then the other Zork games :-)

We stick to the official titles so we can't help that Beyond Zork was named, well, Beyond Zork :)

True, but it would be nice if there is an option that keeps series together. But perhaps that will be integrated in the coming feature which will display the first game of a series really in the first place :-)

Well, just add titles to series, give them numbers within, and let people sort by this:

Monkey Island 1 - The Secret of Monkey Island
Monkey Island 2 - Monkey Island 2 - LeChuck's Revenge
Monkey Island 3 - The Curse of Monkey Island
Monkey Island 4 - Escape from Monkey Island

Sort by series would not only keep the games together, but also put them into the correct order.

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_what_did_just_break_thread/page1

that's a start , sorry , it's very time consuing to sorting them with correct titles

has for the unbunbling, sorry but some titles are pure BS : the 8 episodes of heroes chronicles

as already said i pretty much understand for some package ,; but some not

2 or 3 examples :

Disciples II Gold became :

- Disciples II Dark Prophecy + Gallean's Returns ; base game + 2 standalone expansion pack (Servants of the Light & Servants of the Dark)
- Rise of the Elves : The original Disciples II is included in this package, which totals to four campaigns from its predecessor and one new campaign from Rise of the Elves to choose from.

-> thoses entries are only avaible in english

- Battle Isle Platinum : Battle Isle 1 -> 3 fine , Historyline 1914 - 1918 (part of the bundle) , even if it's not a pure Battle isle title , it's based from , goes to letter H ..... Incabution , goes to letter I, and even the cover has Battle Isle 4 written on it (i know Battle isle 4 is an informal title but come on)

-> all entries are in english only

- Cutures serie ; 2 , is incomplete title : it's Cultures 2 : Gates of Aasgard , norhern land & 8th wondors doesn't have Cultures in their diectory ...

only issues is the directory used by the downloader , so its a minor issue , but lead to local directory backup not tied close one to another.

-> Cultures 1 & 2 : englsh + german , Northland + 8th wonders : english + german + spanish

there are many others like those , commandos , tomb raider 1+2+3 have a sense

also : bonus are duplicated, so i don't know how gog will handle this.

Oh yeah , i should recall you have usad in the past some language pack....and the coincidence is to good with the introduction of galaxy.....call me paranoid :D

I repeat what i already said multiples times , you could have left the bundle entry and offered different link for each game in the package, but sure i guess that didn't fitted well with Galaxy.

so in end i invite you to mobygames.com & check the disaster the unbundle did >_>
