coffeecup: Mh all free games got a facelifting.
They probably just changed all the installers to "ugly" (see attachment - newer "yikes" installer above). Really - did they fire their designers (or are they now working exclusively on Galaxy) or how could this get through QA? The buttons are not equal, the font is not fitting it's just plain *urgh*!

That looks very... Windows 95, doesn't it? O.o
Thanks for all the advice guys. Very handy way to find the updates :D

I tell you something: I just found out that the reason for the installers looking that ugly is in fact my WinXP setting to classic (Win95/98 look). After changing it back to WinXP the installer looks much better. No wonder that I am the only one who is ranting about this. Most people use Win7 or Win8 and even the XP people probably are using XP in XP-Design mode. So forget what I was ranting about.

No, the installers are just as ugly here. I just don't think something you just you once to install the game is worth ranting about.

BTW, I'm on Windows 7. But I do have Aero switched off and use the classic theme plus Classic Shell. If the Start Menu didn't say "Windows 7" you might think you are using 2000 when sitting in front of my computer. :-)

On "normal" win7 or "normal" winxp mode they don't look that ugly - I tested it. They may not be perfect (still not the same size for both buttons) but far from being as ugly. as in my attachment.

To be honest, even if I prefer better looking installers I am definitely not going to switch from a fast and useful UI to a slow and animation-heavy mess just because of them. :-)

Aww. I was about to make a joking correction from "face-lifting" to "face-hugging".

Absolutely understandable :)

All free games were updated it seems.

You know, lately I've been a bit upset by GOG's lack of care with the way they are handling the unbundling and the (broken) update system, but then they go and update the free games. One thing doesn't excuse the other obviously, but it's nice to be reminded that they do care about everything here, even if I don't always agree (or understand) with their priorities.

Do you know what is the nature of the update applied to the free games?

I haven't tested it yet. I own all of them and noticed the version change (2.0 -> 2.1 in most cases; Warsow went from 2.1 -> 2.2; Akalabeth: World of Doom didn't change version (2.0.0.1) but the digital signature is from two days ago, so it was probably updated as well).
