Nergal01: Blade of Darkness got a German-language installer. :D

Multi-language support is really taking off, it seems. All installers now come with language information. English for most of them, of course, but it may be a sign of things to come. :D
So that IS the update I'm getting a notice for? I'm happy for the German speakers out there but I take it this isn't something I need?

Hate to point at my own threads here, but read this one, please :D. It may actually contain important info...

Will the updates be done by Friday, or should I wait until Monday to re-check the collection? It is a pain grabbing everything and then have "Game updated" pop up every half hour...

Not that updates are bad, but they always seem to happen once I'm done updating...

Nope. From the perspective of an English native speaker, all of this is probably not a big deal.

I still think its important that multi-language support becomes more common around here, since the lack of it has been one of the more common criticisms leveled at the site.

I quit backing up some of my indys. XD Retro City and Hotline have updates every two weeks.

Yes. But the way it's done is a pain in the *** for anyone trying to maintain backups of one's entire collection.
For example, Lucius has files for six different languages, but these files are identical for all the languages, so in fact it's just one version that supports six languages, not six versions. And the only way one can know this is by attempting to download each and every language.

Unless we get a storm of patches coming through from our indie side, we should be done with our updates...for now. mwahahahaha...

mrkgnao: March 27 - Lucius - Universal update (multiple languages) v. 2.0.1.8 [new]
March 27 - Blitzkrieg Anthology - Windows installer, Russian v. 2.0.0.4 [new]
March 27 - Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology - Windows installer, Russian v. 2.0.0.5 [new]
So it's a Russian language update?

For Blitzkrieg, I believe so. At least it's the only files marked as new or updated.

JMich: Love for Sail also got multiple languages (English, French, German, Spanish), both Win and Mac versions. Different files too, grumble...
That's awesome! The German version is some really brilliant work. Especially Larry and the narrator are absolutely epic.
Uhm, I read in that thread that a user "donated" the German version. So does that mean that providing the files or physical copies will sometimes actually allow you to provide that version to others? Because I have quite a few German versions of GOG releases lying around, just sayin'.

I guess there's no place where users can see what stuff you'd need to provide more languages?

Cool so. Thanks for the reply. I thought they might have added more extras or something to boost the anniversary sales.

I despise this aspect of GOG... their updating system is horrible. For example, just downloaded this "supposedly new" installer. Turns out, it's EXACTLY the same filename and filesize as the version I downloaded before! What's going on here?

Why can't GOG just keep a "changelog" on each game so we know whether to re-download it or not? ARGGGHH!!!

Oh, and this... once you click on the "New and Updated" button... it's gone forever! So if I happen to click on this at work, or on my tablet, when I get home to my desktop there are NO updates flagged at all. Just really depressing.

If it weren't for this topic right here, you would never know what's been updated!

Agreed. As someone who buys a TON of games here, this is annoying as hell. While I generally try to back-up everything a game comes with (Mac versions, language packs, etc) I've pretty much given up. I just get the English version of said title and its extras and be done with it. Too frustrating trying to completely keep up with it all.

GOG, listen to this guy. He's your core customer type and he's getting frustrated. Do something about it!
