Splatsch: Yes, of course ! And facts confirms what I thought : I'm not the only one interested ;)

That would be great, but so much work...
At least there is internet translators :P

JudasIscariot: OK, I am sorting through the articles from various German site so it will take a while to find the feature articles. Meanwhile, here's a podcast with Marcin Iwinski himself

Eurogamer.de article
Cool ! And the podcast is in english, that's a good thing. Don't hurry for this it'll already take me some time to read all of this ;) Thank you, that's nice to see more about all of you, and to learn more about GOG in general :D
avatar
Splatsch: (I assume there's no English version for "behind the scenes at GOG" ? ^^")
Since it is a German PC-Magazine I don't think so. But I just read the article and it is a joy to read how the writer of the article adores the GOG-concept and their great service. Definitely worth to google translate and if you need help in tranbslating some sentences just PM me :)

One more article:

http://www.pcgames.de/Good-Old-Games-Firma-256620/Specials/Blick-hinter-die-Kulissen-von-Gogcom-Lizenzhuerden-DRM-Freiheit-und-Fans-in-Deutschland-1153086/2/

Before you read this article there are a few points I'd like to clarify:

1. "Sometimes there is also a special case such as the dungeon crawler Waxworks by Accolade, today only exist on the 5-1 / 4-inch floppy disks." (original German sentence: Manchmal gibt es auch einen Sonderfall wie etwa den Dungeoncrawler Waxworks von Accolade, von dem heute lediglich die 5-1/4-Zoll-Disketten existieren. )

Waxworks had a 3.5" floppy version as well and that's the version we offer here on GOG :)

2. "or place a bid for him in German Ebay auctions." )

We are perfectly capable of buying games on ebay.de or ebay.at and never actually required outside help in doing so. I am not sure where this comes from but maaaaaybe they misunderstood me when I told the reporters that we've had community members offer to buy the physical version of a game at their local store in German, or any other language, and send it to us :D (Case in point: the German Far Cry we have on offer was contributed to us by Pixelion who actually took the time out of his/her day to procure this version of the game. Thank you Pixelion!

3. "For their work, the community members ask the way a cent" (original German: Für ihre Arbeit verlangen die Community-Mitglieder übrigens keinen Cent. )

This is true: the German, and other language speaking community members, never ask for anything in return but we like giving them gifts all the same because we appreciate their help :) That being said, we try to strike a balance between community provided content and what we procure so that the community's generosity is never abused i.e. we don't have a "the community will fix it" mentality.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask :)

edit: I am a bit miffed that not one of those feature articles mentioned the fact that we have several awesome German streamers on our twitch channel i.e. PiranJade, GeordyJones, and Memoriesin8bit. Yes, I mad :P

Wow, thanks for all of this precisions !
I'll read certainly all of this in the next days :) Thanks for your proposal, that's very kind too :D
Edit : And I'm personally very happy to see this usually on GOG and that you say explicitly here : "we don't have a "the community will fix it" mentality". That's really appreciated.

I don't remember this being reported yet. The game card still says "Deutsch (Windows only)".

Fixed :) I forgot to remove that bit while getting the Mac DMGs sorted, so thanks for letting me know :)

Sadly affected by the "product_bonus_3234234" file naming bug. Hope they fix that soon as it makes all of the bonus items pretty indistinguishable. I hope renaming all of the game installers from gamename-version.exe to product-5134234.exe isn't next, although with Star Wars storing itself in directories named "gm21" and similar instead of "star_wars_xwing" it very well might be the next change down the line... ;o)

Just imagine how awesome it will be to have to run every .exe file to figure out what game it is! Sign me up! LOL

JudasIscariot: Yes, I mad :P
Kind breaking-the-law priest,

Be warned this is going to be severely off-topic, but before you go totally mad, do you think you could help us with some divination?

We are looking for some (all)mighty GOG gods to answer our prayers and question. Someone told me you might know where they live.

In the other article the reporter explained it. It might be that some sellers don't deliver out of Germany and that is - according to the reporter - when the German GOG fans can help you to get a game from a German seller. Since the reporter is speaking of "deliver" I am pretty sure that he meant physical goods.

I am more mad because I did not even know that they are German. I wonder what you think about the part where the reporter says that Judas looks like Catweazle
