mrkgnao: What scares me is that when this issue with the updates was raised in the Wasteland forum, a person in blue (Paczyk) basically answered something like "don't worry, we're working hard to fix it all in

I see, well to be honest , i have no interest in their client. I just hope the posts you linked are just badly worded.
as for their "optional client" either they lie either they don't really take care of people who don't want to use the client.
because as i understood they will drop the downloader, since the function will be availbe in the client. And they said we could always use a browser or an alternative downloader manager for this. Great they will remove an existing service -_- , if you don't want to use the client.....

As poking, the support ,good luck , it took almost one month before i get an answer for a basic request such as removing Strike Suit Zero base game from my account (since the director's cut come with the base game + dlc as bonus, it was no longer needed in my shelves). I needed to constantly reopen the ticket.... :'(
Sure they reply faster if you have a problem with a game you just bought or something similar. / critical issue But for the rest ....it take way more time than before.
Wurzelkraft: I'd also love to repeatedly poke the support about the gold edition issue. (like on SotS when you own all DLCs but the gold edition pops up as "not owned" in the shop) Can't have it all I suppose...
For this issue, i got an answer some times ago , iirc the answer was a technical issue and it's not possible to fix it atm
