HypersomniacLive: Any hope for the butchered changelogs due to the "|" character bug? which was reported Aug 12, 2020?
I got the following reply on Aug 26, 2020:
"My apologies that your request went unnoticed for such a long time.
Yesterday we've fixed a few changelogs but we will probably start figuring out a different approach that requires less manual work from us.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we wish you a great day."

They closed the ticket, but I reopened it.

Whatever fixes they did are gone. At the moment, 18 games known to MaGog suffer from this bug (one more than on Aug 12, that one being "Children of Morta"), but it fluctuates, with anywhere between 11 and 18 corrupted changelogs at any given time.

A friendly reminder:

while we deeply admire the contribution that mod authors make to our game, we would like you to remember that running custom modifications can lead to unexpected bugs and crashes. Unfortunately, if you encounter any issues while playing with mods, our team will not be able to help you. If this happens, please report these issues to the mod's original creator. Also, remember that after each game update, there is a high probability of previously installed mods not functioning properly. If you wish to play with mods anyway, disabling auto-updates might prevent your save files from becoming corrupted.

So we can be looking forward to an unspecified timespan until this gets addressed, during which even more butchered changelogs may well crop up. Isn't non-committal language lovely?

I guess there's no point in wondering how they managed to mess things up in a very automated way, yet can't figure out a way to undo it without manual work on each and every affected changelog, is there?

I think that it's safe to assume that at some point they will almost certainly start figuring.

It's not impossible that the bug has actually corrupted the primary (source) changelog in GOG's database, which would mean that in order to recover the lost portions, someone needs to dig up some old backups and manually copy-paste the changelog entries from the backup to the live database. Knowing how backups are managed in large companies, this could well be a painful (i.e. best avoided) undertaking.

I don't think anyone else is monitoring for these kind of updates, so I thought I'd post here:

Sometime in the last few days GOG added the following message to the "Tropico 3 Gold Edition" game boxes in the libraries of people who own this game:

"The online servers for Tropico 3 Gold Edition are no longer operating. On some occasions the game might ask for the Serial Number - [a serial number that is not the same as the one listed under Serial Keys, at least for me]".
