It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

JudasIscariot: That's not supposed to be happening. Usually when I tag something with an update, it should be showing what was changed.

HypersomniacLive: Odd, it does not and has never worked like that for me - checked on a number of browsers, both vanilla and with tweaked settings (add-ons & plugins, etc.) I only get the general update flag and then have to figure out what exactly was updated - that's why I heavily rely on this thread and the announcements you make in the individual games forum and why I wish the whole update notification system would work differently/ in more details.
After opening your game library (doesn't matter if it's shelf or list view) you should get a button indicating number of updated games (I don't remember exactly but it was something like "# games updated"). If you click it your games will be filtered and you should see only updated games. Perhaps you missed that button?

mmm; i think : the issue is he doesn't know (for a good reason) what's updated for each specific games.

reason ; sometimes the notification system doesn't work as intended or a miss from Judas (i don't blame him, i just point a possibility of a human error)

the numbers of games updated has always worked as far i know, but what's updated , is problematic since last website update (last year), for me at least.

Nope, I did not miss that button, but that still only shows which games got an update, not what component of each game was updated - like if it was the installer, one of the extras or if there was an addition.

Judas reply makes it sound that you should be visually able to find what exactly was updated about a game when you click on it, or so I understood the part I highlighted in Judas' reply - in which case the update notification system doesn't work as intended; if he didn't mean that, then it does but it just isn't designed well and needs improvement.

EDIT: Fixed my last sentence so that it actually makes sense.

Yes, you are right, it's possible. That depend on how we define "general update flag". Is it red mark with a number at the top of the page (that's how I understood him) or is it red "update" text next to a game in a game library (your point). I would say both are probable. We shall see ;)

EDIT: You understood him correctly ;)

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. I'm pretty tired, I'm just going to bed. Good night!

There should be a little "New" logo next to the thing that is updated, but if you don't know to look for it, you will probably not see it.

Furthermore, if the game has different installers for different languages, and one of them is updated, you need to have selected the updated language in order to see the indicator - the menu to select the language does not contain this information.
It always works for updated installers but never does for updated or added extras, at least for me. :(

What is this "New" logo you speak of? And what do you mean by the part I highlighted? Is it not in plain view when you click on a game flagged as updated? Or is it something only the initiated are able to see? Should I be screaming discrimination now?

Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Never ever have I seen it - if that logo doesn't show for everybody, that's an indication (to say the least) that the system is broken. Just like that bug in the game shelf when you have already clicked on a game and have its content roll out underneath the title, but when you right-click on the title (to open the game-card in a separate tab, for instance) and the contents of the game instantly roll back up. That's also not the way it's intended to work, but a number of people experience it.

I suspect that at least a number of the issues people have with the site can be explained by this post here - the "it was not visible inside our office" part, that is.

There is definitely something wrong with that image, because all of that bonus content is supposed to have a little icon next to it. I'm guessing the two issues are related.

I don't have a pending update waiting at the moment, so I can't show you the exact indicator, but I've attached an image with the kind of thing I see for my downloads.

I'm also using a different browser (IE), so that may also be part of the problem.

You'd not want to see my screenshot of that same content :-P

The image I posted is using Pale Moon (a Firefox fork) where I have the NoScript and RequestPolicy add-ons installed and block Google, GoogleUserContent, Google-Analytics, Facebook and Twitter javascripts and cross-site requests by default. So, unless the "NEW" logo and those little icons in your screenshot are hosted on any of these sites, they should be showing for me.

But now the question is - why does the general update flag show and the item-specific one doesn't? Are they not hosted on the same site?

EDIT: Ok, those little icons show in Sware Iron (a Chrome fork) which has pretty much the same settings with Pale Moon, but don't show in Firefox with none of the above restricting settings. So, maybe it's a Firefox related bug?

I can't test IE as I've got javascript issues with it and no Flash Player installed - but even if I could and it worked, I'd never use it as I deeply dislike that browser.

well did you try to disable for a try , one or multiples plugins , could be related.

the icons missing are permanent ones, the ones about "new* or "updated" are only visible in specific cases (you know when). > but could be a bug. I don't see a reason why those ressources would be hosted on facebook / twitter or whatever site aside gog server.

I keep a basically vanilla version of Firefox for testing purposes - basically means I have only a dark theme and a cookie manager add-on installed. None of the icons show.
What's interesting is that they do show in Sware Iron (all of them) which has the same settings and add-ons (functionality wise) with Pale Moon. That's why I'm not ruling out "Firefox specific bug".

And I do think that the answer to the question "why does the general update flag show and the item-specific one doesn't?" could be key to identifying (and fixing?) the issue.
I don't know if the other icons are related or not, but I don't really care about those (it's just eye-candy). But I do care about the updates and the way the current system works is not satisfying - also see this new thread here.

yeah , i know the issues about the updates system . I personnaly not really happy too , Those problems are known for too long right now.

Aboui the "no icon" for the bonus, i never ran accross this problem ; i use Opera 12.16 with Adblock Plus (next versions of Opera have plenty functions missings) . I agree there are not so essential , if the download links work that's should be ok. The others icons (new & updated) are glitched time to time though.

For the bonus, however , it's manually flagged by Judas, sometimes he just forgot to put a flag for those.... And you must dig in the subforum to the related game.

And yeah if you check a game and go backward you get the "0 new & updated bug" .....

Well, if they kept a proper changelog then I wouldn't have to care about the missing "NEW" logo, would I now?
But even if it did show up, IAmSinistar made a really good point about it here. The moment you click on an updated game, the system assumes that you also went ahead and downloaded the updated content so the item-specific flag disappears; if you don't click on the game then the general update flag will haunt you until you do, not to mention that it often keeps haunting you even after you have clicked on the game - it's all so illogical.

They should drop the bugged system and go for a changelog or at least give the option which one the end-user find the more convenient for him/her.

And yes something with GOG nothing is logical :) , i even want to "kill" some devs sometimes....
I am so sick of seeing these red numbers pop up next to my name (and then not disappear)
