I think they don't want to bombard people with update notifications. Lots of games get switched at a time and most people would expect huge changes. All it is, is a (nice) clean up job.

Maybe I'll agree with you on MDK, that one was surprising to see :D

I haven't tried installing a game with the new installer yet but one difference is apparently a new default installation path (C:\GOG I believe) which helps avoiding problems on newer OSes such as Vista and Windows 7/8.

Default path is C:\GOG Games, only large games have integrity check, every installer has an optional Foxit Reader download, and it has a cleaner look.

As for the games themselves, i'd describe it as basic clean up and updating software.

All the free games have updated installers now, as well as Fallout 2, Freespace, Freespace 2, M.A.X., and Shogo.

Edit: Teenagent has a missing icon.

Why only big games have integrity check? I always found it convenient that GOG games have the integrity check, regardless of their size.

About installing the GOG games by default to non-default locations... I hope this doesn't become a compatibility problem in the future, in case Microsoft decides in their eternal wisdom in some future Windows version to e.g. block you from installing "apps" to any other location but what are the default places for them. But I guess at that point GOG can change it back to the old way in all their installers. :)

Do they have circular desktop icons too? I hate those new circular ones. I like my desktop icons square or rectangular :D

Every updated game has them. Didn't care for the boxart icons myself.

Actually they do, of a sort - check Digital Signatures in exe properties, select our signature and click Details. You will see if it's OK or invalid. If it's invalid then the file is damaged.

Crusader: No Remorse, Dungeon Keeper, Dungeon Keeper 2, SimCity 2000 and Syndicate now have updated installers.

Edit: It looks like Stronghold HD got updated to 2.1.0

Hmm, I'm not getting notifications that these have been updated. I got one notification of an update and that was for Retro City Rampage. I didn't get one for SimCity 2000, didn't get one for Syndicate and didn't get one for Stronghold HD.
