Gaunathor: Just go into your account and click on GalCiv 2. There is a separate installer for the patch.

Maxvorstadt: Ah, thanks. And thanks to GoG for providing a seperate patch instead of having to download the whole game again. :-)
Are there more games with seperate patches on GoG?
More than a 150 such games.

Hm, would be cool to have a list of these (those? Damn, I always confuse these things) games.

I don't have a list for all the games on GOG (it's on my todo list for MaGog to add this feature, but the list is long). However, here is the list for the games I own (patches highlighted in red):

As regards Turok, I've heard from a developer on the Steam discussion forum about the updates here on GOG.com.

"The changes are being pushed there as well, however GOG has a policy of publishing all changes themselves, unlike Steam where the developer uploads builds and they can become live instantly. GOG staff are currently on holiday leave til the end of the year so we were given an indefinite timeline for any updates."

So, we may not see Update #1 with the speed issue fix before the new year. :(

And this... this right here needs to change. This is really holding GOG back among developers. I much rather take the chance a bad update can be pushed to GOG than GOG doing everything themselves which makes the process slow as heck. Hell even with GOG testing bad updates slip through. I personally would much rather have Steam's approach to updates. Give devs the tools to do this themselves please.

Have to agree with you here; it seems to be the main reason new customers stop using GOG ("shoulda bought the Steam version"); even I wouldn't buy new games here for this or in case the dev/pub stops supporting it in favor of the Steam version only. :-/ Also I thought the Galaxy rollback option was suppose to help with this.

Not directly. It still requires GOG to package the update. I think the plan is still to eventually allow devs to push updates automatically. Wild speculation: the back-end is not in place for this yet.
high rated
I'm pretty cool with GOG closing down for Christmas to New Years. I'm pretty cool with them publishing patches themselves and at their own speed. I assume delays of days is GOG, but delays of weeks or months is devs.

If frequent and instantaneous updates are your thing, then Steam is probably the best place for buying new games. Me, my focus is in others areas. Whatever fits you best...

Here's hoping they go for an approach where moderated releases are still an option, but so are direct-from-developer releases, so we can more accurately see which developers need to be shamed for failing to release non-Steam updates.

The non-galaxy installers should still be moderated (also a bit slower).

Maxvorstadt: these (those? Damn, I always confuse these things)
"These" is the plural of "this".
"Those" is the plural of "that".

Hope this helps.
