I am glad to tell that Shadowgate (at least the German version) seems to be fixed as it has now about 900MB just like promised. Will download it to be sure. Hopefully all other foreign language versions are fixed as well (have not tested).

seems the same for the french version, i tried to download the file ; its seems the correct file size.....better late than never.

I also didn't get any flag for Astebreed. This "new" account/notifying system is soooooo ... well ... better let's not talk about it. But now we got Achievements for a handful of games that is so much more important ;)

Yep, FAT32, as ssokolow said. It has a file size limit of 4GB and can be read by both operating systems. Larger files complicate issues for me greatly as I use both mac & windows, with my backups being on osx-formatted hds and my downloads being done on windows. The installer files have been less than 4GB prior to this - I have W1 & W2 backed up without issue.

At some point I'll probably have to install NTFS on my mac.

Everyday you learn something new :) I never would have guessed that the installer size could be the problem here. But afaik NTFS is the better and faster filesystem so maybe you really SHOULD convert to NTFS.

Well, OSX file system can handle bigger, so that's not the real problem. Lots of the movies I have from here are larger than 4GB and I just DL them on the Mac to begin with.

My issue is pretty niche. The only time it has actually come up is trying to get Bioshock, purchased at humble, from my OSX backup drives to my Windows computer. I'm not a computer guy, but I think installing NTFS on my Mac is the only way to do this. My workaround was to convert one of my transfer drives to NTFS and download at work and transfer directly to the windows machine, though I still have it backed up on OSX.

Not even sure I'm making much sense - word salad. This is why larger files complicate my personal system greatly. ;)

(My personal system not including internet at home also complicates my system greatly.)

MarkoH01: Everyday you learn something new :) I never would have guessed that the installer size could be the problem here. But afaik NTFS is the better and faster filesystem so maybe you really SHOULD convert to NTFS.

budejovice: Well, OSX file system can handle bigger, so that's not the real problem. Lots of the movies I have from here are larger than 4GB and I just DL them on the Mac to begin with.

My issue is pretty niche. The only time it has actually come up is trying to get Bioshock, purchased at humble, from my OSX backup drives to my Windows computer. I'm not a computer guy, but I think installing NTFS on my Mac is the only way to do this. My workaround was to convert one of my transfer drives to NTFS and download at work and transfer directly to the windows machine, though I still have it backed up on OSX.

Not even sure I'm making much sense - word salad. This is why larger files complicate my personal system greatly. ;)

Mac can only read NTFS, not write on it (to be more clear, the write function is deactivated because of stability reasons). As many of my old external hd drives still use NTFS I bought Paragon NTFS to write from my mac on them. There are also free tools like NTFS-3G, but I had some problems with and I guess with El Capitan coming out end of this month I would not recommend using them.

If you really want to format your backup drive, you maybe want to switch to exFat instead of NTFS. exFat was mainly in mind for SD-Cards and can handle also bigger files. Newer Windows and Mac OS (I believe since Mountain Lion) can write and read on exFat, older OS like WinXP needs a special free updates. Biggest problem with exFat is that unfortunately not all devices like TVs or media player support it, but if you only use it for your mac and win pcs that's not a big issue then. Keep also in mind that if you use time machine as backup service on your mac the partition for it still need to be the mac file system.

If you don't want to play around with your drives and file systems you can still use a free package manager like 7zip (on windows) and Keka (on mac) to split bigger files in smaller packages. Just don't forget to disable compression in that case, otherwise it will take some time.
