Reever: I backed it on KS, but WTF?!!?! If Paypal are doing that they're making sure people will want their money back, because they'll hamper development. Damn...
The Universim website now says that all issues with PayPal have been resolved :-)

Really? Awesome, thanks for sharing that with us!
Alpha dates announced!

Pre-alpha access - summer 2015.
Alpha access - fall 2015.

If you pledged 'alpha' tier during KS campaign, you'll get an access to pre-alpha as well :-)

That's nice! Haven't pledged for it though (IIRC). Never playing alphas or betas anyway, not enough time for it...
New stretch goals almost unlocked! Just 1,5k$ more and in-game Planet Editor and Live News System will be implemented! :-)

Update, pre-alpha starts September 15th :-)
Saw that update! It's cool that they're progressing! Alphas and Betas in general aren't of much interest to me though, since I never have the time to really play through them and I'd also rather play the full game! =)

zeffyr: The Universim is upcoming indie game in which you can manage your planet. Whole planet!

"The Universim is, first and foremost, a planet management game. Your civilization will begin in the Stone Age, thousands of years before the modern era. Research plays a crucial role in the game. For example players will initially need to take on such challenges as reinventing fire in order to survive attacks from wild animals, creating cures for deadly viruses and other potential threats to your civilization. We are developing realistic planets that will have air, weather effects, and varying temperatures as well as natural resources and deadly natural disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, freak storms and meteors. In The Universim you have a godlike ability to make decisions that play another crucial role in the game. While you will not interact directly with the population that inhabits your planet, you will be able to guide them through their development and influence their decisions for better or worse. Choices in the game extend from ending wars between cities on your planet or watching as one city destroys the other, to influencing the research path of your civilization, and much much more."

Here you can watch the trailer.

The Kickstarter Universim page.

And you can vote for the game to be released on GOG here!

I've contacted the developer, Crytivo Games, about possible GOG release. Alex Koshelkov, game's creator responded (I cite with his permission):

"We plan to sell The Universim on as many platforms as possible. Unfortunately right now I cant give you 100% that we will sell it on GOG but for sure we will aim high. If we will sell game on GOG all our backers will get there key no matter what pledge you chose."

Please support this project! Spread the word, back it on KS and vote for it to be released here, on GOG! :)

Someone else had asked the same question and was told no they are part of the main population of the planet. On the evolution scale they are a step below nuggets.
OK, I added my pledge --as a big fan of sim games (I did like SimEarth, but this looks far beyond that), I'm looking forward to the release, I'll probably give the prototype a try this weekend.

Welcome, another backer, well done :-)

I only went for the $40 pledge to get alpha access; I didn't see anything about the soundtrack, but it was listed on the $60 pledge. I thought I read earlier in the thread that the soundtrack came with the $30 backing, did the price points change over time?

Yup, prices were a little bit lower during the Kickstarter campaign.
