zeffyr: As you said, dinosaurs are cool, and it's going to be a cool game, so why not? ;-) It's not supposed to be Empire Earth or Age of Empires, you know :)

P1na: ...yeah. But unless I can end up with this and go the silly way, I don't see what place dinsaurs have on a game that striked me as going the realistic way.
Fun image! :) Maybe you're right, we'll see. Anyway, aliens will provide the daily doze of craziness as well.

P1na: I still don't see the point of dinosaurs on a human sim game, but... whatever. Dinosaurs are cool, and I haven't bothered checking the game enough that I would understand anyway. I'll get to know it once the game comes out.
Didn't it cease to be a human sim game when we got aliens? Why can't we have dinos too? ;)

We got aliens?

.... but that's the future! It could happen! And by "human sim" I meant in the game we're controling the human civilization's development, yet there were no humans during "dinsaur age" so what's the point of including it?

One thing is clear, if you give me a "relistic" game such as Empire Earth and you put dinosaurs and humans at the same time, it would kill the immersion. A lot. I'm not saying it would kill the game for me, but it would be less enjoyable. Now, go idiotic. Have dinosaurs go around their business on the map. Capture different kinds of dinosaurs Battle Realms style, then customize them according to your available tech and send them to battle. I don't know about you guys, but that sounds a lot more interesting to me. Not something viable on planetary scale, however.

Edit: fixed a pretty important comparison up there.

^ I realized that my post didn't really make sense after posting it and to be honest, I didn't even read what exactly "DINOSAURS" entails. But for me, it actually be more entertaining, I guess.

Oh, I don't really know it either. It just strikes me as adding a dinosaur age to Empire Earth.
I get you, but for me, the graphics and the gameplay just don't make me take it so "seriously". Maybe because of the planet size and the extras where you can send cows into space and so on. I just want the game to be fun! =)

The key point is that we'll be creating new civilizations on new planet, it doesn't represent exact progress of our race on Earth.

From what I gather you will be able to have multiple planets once your civilization reaches the stars. So who knows, maybe you'll want one that's all dinosaurs.

Oh come on, don't talk nonsense. There is nobody on this thread that wants the game to be fun.

You still have no-tech cavemen Vs dinosaurs. Kind of a bad matchup.

Fanfare!

The funding towards next stretch goals continues! :-) You can pre-order a copy at the official page:

http://theuniversim.com/

Prices are a little bit higher, but that's fair in my opinion. There will be also an online shop with t-shirts etc soon.

Towards Live News System >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. <disappears like The Enterprise> :)
Good to see funding still going in. I'm waiting for them to send me an updated version of my compiled donations. Since they went in via PayPal they are probably still backlogged on getting those done.
GOG announcement: "There’s a whole new galaxy of possibilities coming towards you..."

GOG custom Universim world confirmed. ;)

Indeed :)
Woo, got my BackerKit email from Universim. Very profession, I like how it lets you set up all your rewards. And man, those t-shirts are awesome! Went for design #2 in black, but they're all fricking sweet.
