Who or what is the Undreaming and how or who created the Undreaming and for what purpose?

We are told that the cosmos is created out of people’s dreams and if the Undreaming gets its way, it will stop everyone’s dreams, resulting in the end of the cosmos. But then surly this will result also in the extinction in its own existence! Nothing gains.

Faith seems to know about the Undreaming, she drew a picture of it amongst other drawings on the wall in her experimental bedroom.

My daughter drew once something like that, she said it was a tentacle monster out of a black hole. Sure it made me proud, she'll be a worthy servant of great Cthulhu.

But can she tell you what the Undreaming is? Lol.

Yeah I thought of asking her, but on second thought, what if she said "shhh dad, we never speak of the Undreaming..."? I'd totally crap my pants. I guess I can live in ignorance.

Erm, WTF?
I didn't know what the OP was about and had search for 'Undreaming'.

It would have been nice to post in the subforum of 'The Longest Journey' or at least mention the game's title.

What is "OP"?

Never the less is that all you have to say? Do you have any ideas yourself?

The Undreaming reminds me of the Chaos Vortex from the original TLJ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfOqOIyRcmE

Self-preservation likely doesn't play a role if that's the case and it's a purely chaotic thing.

OP means Original Post. The first post in a thread.

I just wanted to politely point out that you have posted in the 'general discussion' of this board without mentioning the game's title. People like me who would like to join the discussion or who would like to help need to know what you are refering to. And maybe posting in the game's subforum might me more helpful.

I cannot add more. I don't have this game (yet).

Thanks for that scene, it has been a very long time since I played TLJ and I had forgotten that the Undreaming went back that far in the story.
