Hello all,

I'm Using
OS Windows 7
Graphics GeForce GT 730
Memory DDR3 12 GB
CPU Amd FX 8320-E

The Suffering keeps freezing up on me. I just installed it today. When it freezes the pointer disappears and I then have to hit alt-ctrl-del. I tried to change some of the graphics in "options", and got a bit futher in the game and then it froze.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
You can try the game subforum and possible solutions:

I am freezing up and seeing here as well. It's below zero!

Tiny E, shouldn't this be your line?

It is really really cold here which is rare. I've been up here 12 years and only seen it get below zero twice, this week being the second time. It's usually around 20F or so.

Snow on the other hand. :P Approaching 150 inches so far.

Use the newest IndirectSound Version from https://www.indirectsound.com/downloads.html and don't allow 3D Soundbuffer or EAX in the Sound Setup of the Game (before first Launch, after you can hold shift, right click the Game.exe, open, the Setup will Popup again).
Also use newest Version of the AiO Patch https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1229-the-suffering-series-aio-patch/

Other Soundfix like Creative ALchemy will only work if you got a Creative Soundcard. If you have a Realtek Chip like me on your Mainboard it's useless.

Where are you? Can't be anywhere in the U.S. like GOG says you are.

The place tinyE lives in is famous for the large amounts of snow it recieves and yes, it is in the USA. Remember it is a large country with very disparate types of climate.

It's famous for the large amounts of snow it receives, and yet in the last twelve years this is the first time the temperature got below 0? Or does he mean zero F instead of C? But where the hell in the U.S. outside of Alaska could it possible be below 0F in October? And if it's Alaska, then there's no way it hasn't been below 0F in the last 12 years.

See the dates for the older posts in this thread? This was a necro.

I am not really allowed to tell where other GOG users live even if I happen to know.

I guess you could get lots of snow when it is 0 C or +1 C degrees, but the snow would be all wet and mushy, and become slush quite fast. That has happened here many times (even though we probably get much less snow around here, but still sometimes respectable amounts of it).

EDIT: Oh and I had to check. 0 F is -17.7 C degrees. Yeah, it is like never that cold here in October (e.g. now it is +12 C = +53.6 F here), but in like Dec-Feb it can dip below that. And this is on the southern edge of the country (around the capital by the sea), naturally the more north you go, the colder it gets.

I live at the sea coast and the water keeps us from getting those severe colds. Just 20mi inland from here it can easily be 15ºC colder in the winter or 10ºC warmer in June or May.

sounds like Denver actually.
They get snow all the time when it's above freezing. It's looks beautiful coming down but man, what a mess. And IMO driving in slush is way harder than driving in snow or rain.

Ironically, I lived right on Lake Michigan for 2 years and we had the hottest Summer (for like a month) and the coldest winter (for like 6 months) they'd experienced in years. Over 105 during the summer, and a few feet of snow every week for most of the winter, it was TERRIBLE. In Waukegan, IL. So glad I got transferred away from there when my A school was done.
