yogsloth: I'm going to have to settle for that age-old free game, I suppose:

"Punching my monitor in frustration"
Where did you get a free monitor??
I was sitting at 5 purchased, I guess my plan to buy the Broken Sword bundle on it's next round to get my freebie is a bust...

Not a big deal but I already own the first 3, but wouldn't mind owning them again on GoG
well bought too many anyway was glad to see some new titles in the sale. But got a few good titles in the free one section. Amazing how quickly cough cough the lower price ones sold out. :)
Posting on phone.

Turns out monitor punch game not free.
Oh well, I bought my 10th game 3 hours ago, before it said that the freebies had run out, and didn't receive any code.

Still, I guess, my way of looking at it is "at least I got a bunch of good games for a fraction of the original price." :-)

Mind you, and I'm not sure why, but this particular Insomnia Sale didn't quite seem to have the air of anticipation or excitement that the older ones did.

Indeed not. And I suggest if you play you play with an LCD instead of a CRT. Playing with a CRT has a really unpleasant cleanup (not to mention that a large CRT gives a lot more resistance than an LCD would).

I was happy about that. I was really pleased about the "Oh, cool, a guaranteed freebie" instead of the "Oh crap, I hope I manage to get the freebie and not blink when it comes up" moments of the previous sales. I just wasn't happy at the buggy nature of it, however anticipated it was given the previous sales.
its ok. the freebies were pretty bad either way I'm in for the savings.

se777enjack: My free games showed up as an email that included a redemption code.

Also, one of my free games showed up when my counter went down to 1 instead of 0.
That's what happened with both of my freebies, though it means that I actually ended up getting mine "backwards". The first game I got when it hit 1, meaning I'd only bought 9, but the next game I bought the countdown said I had 9 to go, so when I got the next freebie when the countdown hit 1 it meant I'd bought 10. A tad messed up.

Reminds me, does anyone have a Sins of a Solar Empire®: Rebellion Ultimate Edition gift code that they'd consider swapping for Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series? It was what I was planning on grabbing next, but missed it and doubt I'll hang on to try and catch it in the sale again.

Gamers these days have to have everything handed to them on a platter don't they? Back in my day Monitor Punching didn't have any easy mode. *sigh* Gamers today will never feel the satisfaction and accomplishment we felt when our CRTs exploded, sending glass everywhere and leaving us exhausted and bloodied.

Exactly how i felt this was going to be like. I was afraid i was going to miss my freebie, and wait anxiously for it hoping it wasn't a bad one, too. Either way, i'm sure the bugs are the kind of bugs you don't catch until it's running in a real environment where the hardware is being pushed to it's limits.
Huh. A mix of having to work during the week and about 90% of the games that even remotely interesting me being ones I already owned meant there wasn't much for me in this sale to begin with.

The freebies being gone hopefully mean this sale will follow shortly.

I think there are mutliple reasons for this:
1. They changed the freebies. Previously you had to click and had a chance for a freebie, here you have to buy games for that. It encouraged people to stay awake.
2. There was a set rotation, this encouraged comradery. People looked for each others games because they knew the game had to come up atleast once more. This time it is completly random and the game go away super quick. On one side I actually like that, but stuff like the keaning made the whole thing really memorable. People writing funny reviews just to get people buying the game and just buying stacks of the game and giving it away to bring down the counter.

Pfff! Savier gamers used keyboards instead of fists. Gave far more satisfaction without the bloodshed.
