karnak1: ... I've long suspected (long before there ever was an epic store) that valve "bribed" some publishers in order to guarantee that their games would only be steam-exclusive and wouldn't be sold on GOG or other stores.
Of course I've no proof to support my suspicions. But along the years I always found it strange how some very small devs (without any sort of market visibility) would only sale on steam, when selling on more stores would obviously grant them more publicity and sales. ...

teceem: Hanlon's Razor!
(Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.)
Probably.
But several years of work on a major enterprise have left me a severe "trauma" concerning the evil and petty things big businesses are able to do for even a ridiculous margin of profit.
The fact that I personally regard evil or malicious actions as a manifestation of mental illness or stupidity, also doesn't help :(

Evil (/malicious) isn't a universal/objective concept, but the connection between (professional) power and sociopathy/psychopathy/narcissism isn't exactly a secret. ;-)
The Sinking City page has also disappeared from Steam.

I would imagine it finally sunk...badumpaa!
Would love any updates on this, as playing a "modern" version of Dark Corners of the Earth with branching Sherlock Holmes style investigation was something I was REALLY looking forward to.

Is this a cancel?

Or more likely a (hopefully limitted then here later) move to Epic? I wonder how the Steam people feel that used to tell "us" to just use Steam if you don't like that a game is only on there ;) (Sorry, couldn't help myself - had to make the comment).

Maliciousness is objective concept, evil ain't (outside Dungeons & Dragons, of course).

Let's pretend for a moment that there's such a thing as "objectivity"....

Since when do people agree on the concept of "harm"? ( https://www.merriam-webster.com/thesaurus/maliciousness the desire to cause pain for the satisfaction of doing harm )
Even "pain" is very subjective.

But this is all very off topic - easily avoidable by adding me as a friend. ;-)
